Media Tom Aspinall's plea to create an open weight HW class

He’s correct for reasons stated.

Also, at some point weight differences stop mattering at HW. Many of these guys at HW hit like a truck and can end the fight with one punch.

Sounds like a good idea if you just wanna eat more cheeseburgers before the fight but if a 300lbs+ sized Brock or Francis showed up, I think the dude would be whistling a different tune.

Brock did show up at about 300 pounds on fight night. Twelve percent weight cuts are certainly bigger than ideal, but they're also not notably unusual or something considered a significant fight disadvantage. And Brock could easily have been a better MMA fighter with less bulk and better MMA training.

The point is: guys like Francis and Brock COULD show up at that weight and in shape.

I would be all for it when the top 50-100 are actually in decent shape, as it is we get more fat lard asses and D cups than we do specimens such as Francis or Brock for example

This is Francis at 272 lbs with full visible abs. Even with an added 30 lbs he'd look in way better shape than the vast majority of HWs.

265 is arbitrary and based on nothing.

That said, I've no interest in 400 pounders lumbering after each other, the UFC heavyweights are often fat enough and athletically pathetic enough as it is.

Brock just needed more experience with time to be a better MMA fighter.
He is our Bo Jackson.

Pride had no HW weight limit yet guys like Zuluzinho, Hongman Choi, and Bigfoot Silva weren't necessarily able to use it to their advantage.

Athletic big men like Jokic and Lebron go into sports that actually pay like NBA/NFL.

some years ago there was a card on, the fans buhed all fights..
Then 2 fat slobs at HW came on, swinging for the fences hitting air.
Bouncing moobs and bellies.. The fans went wild.

I have never been a fan of HW... For every good HW in shape there are probably 10 that would make a regular MD concerned over their weight issues..

We all know why there is no OWHW... MINOWAMAN!!
He would rule with an iron fist,

Just move it to 285 like highschool and college wrestling. 315 pounders can cut less than 10% of their weight no problem to make it there. I think that would put the real cap at 330 pounds where cutting 45 lbs (even with extra mass) isn't achievable. But 330lbs is bigger even than most NFL linemen. And the 330+ boys aint gonna fight for 15 or 25 minutes anyways. They can only go for 7 second spurts.

Ridiculous that a highschool heavyweight wrestler can be 285lbs, but if they want to go into the closest sport to that professionally they have to lose 20 pounds.

I highly doubt Aspinall is afraid of getting in there with anyone. Dude doesn't seem to give a fuck.
