6:23 - TJ didn't want to retire and is bitter about how his career ended. Doctors have told him his shoulder will never be good enough to fight again. Plans on having an extensive shoulder surgery, waiting on cadaver parts.

8:14 - Felt he matched up very well with Sterling, doesn't think he's that great. Says he has awesome grappling and tricky back takes but his stand up is not threatening at all. Thinks he could've let Sterling hit him as hard as he could and nothing would happen. Took the Sterling fight over a 4th shoulder surgery because it was likely his last opportunity at the title and liked the match up.

16:13 - If his shoulder is good enough he'll come back, feels like he has to and can't go out the way he did. Knows he is the best in the weight class and can get the belt back.

17:22 - Hopes to have surgery next month, year recover after it, earliest return would be at 38 years old. Wants the right return fight, names Dominick Cruz.

29:49 - Lists Cruz and Sterling as opponents he wants, picks Sterling to beat O'Malley by submission.

Good luck to TJ. Shoulder injuries are complicated.

His body is breaking down. Getting out of the USADA pool to heal it is only delaying the inevitable. Same with Conor who's realizing it himself. Treatment has come a long way but TJ doesnt and won't ever have the same body and physical capabilities of his prime. MMA training and actually fighting is too intensive on body and injuries have already piled up for him.

Weve seen it a lot. Weidman, Pettis same stories.

Chito, Pedro, Yan, Figgy, Cruz, Cejudo or Font would be a good retirement fight. Hopefully he can get healthy for 1 more high-level fight. Snake or not he's a legend.

Very Fun interview.

I do wish though that TJ would quit saying the sport was “taken away” from him. He needs to own the fact he did shady stuff, over trained, and got himself suspended, then came back and over extended himself in the Title fight.

MMA did not Just “get taken away” from him.
