Times when Dana was asked about fighter pay.

He gets so defensive.

He should just tell the truth, if those guys want to make more money its up to them to do something about it.

Your company doesn't give you a massive raise because the boys at the top are feeling generous - you got to go fucking tell them and use all the means you have at your disposal to make it happen.

This is why the Fertitas paid Dana so well. Because he’s so good at completely swerving questions about fighter pay.

Not saying it’s a good thing, I just think it’s ironic.

He is employed by UFC. Do you really think that he can openly talk about things like this?

It same as expecting boss of factory to go tell his employees how to get better salary.....

Obviously not, but he is kinda saying that anyway when he says "these guys always get new contracts". Hinting that at any time, they could demand more but don't or can't.

So why not just go a bit further, they signed those deals..fighters need to stop fucking each other over and get together - otherwise the UFC will not give up its very healthy profit margin, why on earth would they unless forced.

Self-interest applies to Dana himself, as well as the fighters.

"these guys always get new contracts". - not really...

Some fighters mainly start to use their brain when they signing contracts. Its stupidity to sign 6 fight contract if u are not champ, contender or fan favourite....then these guys complain after 2-3 fights that their contract sucks, but they will not get new until they have 0-1 fights left. Its +- 2-3 years with base UFC salary.

They can renegotiate successfully. It happens all the time.

LET THE FIGHTERS WEAR THEIR OWN SPONSORS IN CAGE. It's not the end-all-be-all but it bridges a massive gap in pay for a lot of these guys. How the fuck can you build your own brand when you're constantly a billboard for someone else

Right, wrong, or indifferent, he fact of the matter is when these fighters come up in the UFC they knowingly sign a contract with Satan... giving up their prime potential earning and fighting years, likeness, and negotiating leverage to the promotion. Unfortunately, the UFC is the biggest stage to earn at this juncture in time, the promotion has the fighters bent over a barrel when it comes to contractual negotiations, self promotion, outside sponsorships, as well as career trajectory and progression... it’s sad to see, but the athletes willingly know what their signing up for.

Okay, but still UFC will have advantage over them, and it will definitely have impact on possible negotiations.

you just broke the myth of the gender pay gap. It is not the company's job to pay you more, that is on you.

The funny thing is, the same fans who complain about fighter pay take Dana’s bait hook line and sinker about Jones being scared to fight Ngannou. Jones has stepped in the cage 28 times and has faced some of the worlds toughest fighters yet he must be scared because Dana says so and he wants to get paid.

Should the fighters make more money? Absolutely.

But let's play devil's advocate for a second. IF a fighter thinks he deserves top of the food chain-boxing money(Mayweather, Wilder, Fury) THAN they always have one option Boone seems to want to acknowledge. That is go do what top of the food chain boxers do.

Example:Jon Jones wants boxing money. Finish your UFC contract than go out and find a top-level promoter(he'll call Mayweather) to put on one big fight with a couple of fights on the card. Pick your opponent, promote the hell out of it and go make that fucking money.

Why do these UFC fighters bitch instead of going and doing it? Mostly because hey don't want to or cannot finish the contracts they signed and then even if they are not under contract the idea of going into business for yourself and running a promotion even for just one night is a shit ton of work.

You want boxing money do it like boxers do. You want to be a UFC fighter you will make what the UFC wants to pay you.

Jones didn't think Ngannou was going to make the improvements necessary to beat the top wrestlers in the HW dvision. He thought he was going to get Stipe and after seeing Francis absolutely murk him he wanted nothing to do with it anymore. Jon and his team knew 100% what he was going to make before starting HW training. You think he was going to vacate the LHW belt on an assumption he was going to get paid $20 million? When he saw how much more improved Francis was he freaked out and threw his management team under the bus as scapegoats.

UFC should copy OKTAGONs "Neruda cup" sponsorship system. They have league for companies, its simple, its fun and its good for fighters...

KO - 5 pts, TKO/Sub - 4 pts, DEC win - 3 pts, Draw - 2pts, Lose - 1 pts

Company hire fighter(s) and he represents them in "sponsors league", at the end of year sponsor with most points wins trophy.
