Hypothetically speaking of course

Wouldn't time travel to the past create an alternate universe instead of altering the original. If not, depending on the reach of the butterfly effect, that altering the past has created, ones current state of being could change drastically. It would have to happen in a blink of an eye too in some cases
Of course nobody notices the changes, but maybe that's what a lost memory or a vivid dream is. LoL
Wouldn't it then be more reasonable that an alternate universe is created and a new future written instead of things just un-being, while other things just appear?
On top of that, think about how unimaginably massive the universe is. Never mind multiple universes. They say time is relative. Could there be multiple universes using the same energy? No time machine could work without a power source. That power source would be transferred to new destination upon arrival. Maybe that's the reason for lightning storms. Energy production to replace the power lost in the leap? LoL

Terminator 3 is on TV and I don't have to piss in a cup anytime soon, are the reasons I'm thinking about this.

Black people can't time travel

At least that's what Louis CK says.

I'm confused. What do you mean hypothetically speaking?

You've been I see. Tell me. Does the new universe already contain a new you?
The future doesn't have one though right? I feel like going to the future would be impossible.

Maybe. How would I know? There's a lot of people. What, you would expect the two people to somehow inexplicably meet up, like in the movies?

I would assume you would go to the past to alter your own future.

Also I meant an old you.

You know, technically we're always time travelling, since we're always moving at a speed of one second in time for every one second.

i've time traveled plenty of times going from one time zone to another.

Game pits already did it and wiped out the dinosaurs.

or maybe wat u changed in the past was supposed to occur to affect the future so in the end wat u changed didnt change anything @ all b/c another future form already changed the past to affect the future

physicists say that time travel to the past is only possible after time travel has been created. such technology would allow you to create a time loop, but that loop could only go back as far as the point that time travel was first possible.

Altering history would create an alternate reality if we assume that time is a linear progression based on our perceptions. This is what Back to the Future uses and it makes the entire franchise null because of it.

Remember this scene from part 2?

Biff travels back in time and changes the past so much that it creates an entirely separate future 1985, one that Marty and Doc Brown are stuck in. However, Biff was able to travel back to the original future 2015 and return the DeLorean. This shouldn't have been possible as that 2015 is no longer in the same timeline as the one that Biff changed.

But maybe time isn't some branching linear paths. maybe it's more like a big ball of wibbley, wobbley timey whimey...stuff.
