Anyone know why we had Weigh-Ins on Thursday night for Saturday night fights? I'm all for giving the fighters more time to rehydrate. I've just never seen that before.

I think with the time difference and the fact they are doing this card at the normal US time it made more sense to give them more time to recover rather than less. For most cards they get roughly 36 or so hours to recover but if they did weigh ins the morning of the day prior to this fight they would have a decent bit less time for recovery. It’ll be interesting to see if the extra time noticeably benefits the fighters.

If Islam were fighting we’d have a bunch of idiots saying they did this just for him.

And those bunch of idiots would be right. The only time Australia shortened the hydration period following official weigh-ins was for the first Islam vs Volk fight.

"...Makhachev complained about having less time to rehydrate in Australia, due to the official weigh-ins being later in the afternoon – as opposed to the usual early morning"

They do things a little different down under mate. Plus they wanted to keep Strickland away from kids.

What I mean is they would be saying this was specifically done to give him an advantage but he isn’t even on the card so it’s obviously something they thought would be beneficial to all.
