Media Throwback Friday: Mir rips Big Nog's arm off

Remember that?

Big Nog rocking Frank Mir standing and gets so fucking excited that he wants to pull off a submission while he is at it. Mir survives and moments later rips his fucking arm off pretty much

FOr sure frank knew what he was doing. this is the flaw in mma, allows competitors to get away with legalized murder/ brutality. Imagine if the ref slipped in masvidal/askren fight, jorge is such a punk would have kept punching a clearly unconscious body.

Owned.

As fucked up as it is, I love to see dominance and decisive finishes and a broken limb just doesn’t happen that often. As a fan of combat sports, it’s nice to know what the possibilities are. Hate to see a guy be badly injured but I think this stuff is important and interesting

Yeah - at first it's surprising that the upper arm snapped in the middle and not at the shoulder - but I guess it's kind of obvious that the shoulder is much stronger than the arm bone so if you put torque on the elbow the limb might break at it's weakest point

After the Robbie Lawler fight, I wouldn't be surprised if these hypothetical subsequent shots simply woke Askren up, and if the fight ended with a bulldog choke 10 seconds later <{hughesimpress}>

About Mir/Nog 2, that was tough to watch... the MMA gods must have been unhappy with Rodrigo; first Mir fight happened a couple weeks after he got out of the hospital from a nasty staph infection and had a badly damaged meniscus/knee.

The second one, he had the finish in the pocket but tempted the devil by trying to get a submission instead pounding away. Huge props to Mir for getting out of that pickle <5>

Still kinda wish that Big Nog's retirement fight would have been a third fight against Mir.
They made Wand/Rampage 3 (then 4), Don Frye/Gary Goodridge 3 and Tito/Chuck 3 even if Wand/Chuck/Frye were originally 2-0 against their opponents, who managed to turn it around in the third bout after all...

thanks for posting, i was just wondering if it damaged his should or what.

also Mir is one of the few fighters who's never been submitted
