I didn't like him at first, thought he was a shill (and still do), but I've grown accustomed to hearing him on the broadcast and it doesn't feel right when he's not there.

Also he's one of the few guys in this sport that I can confidently say is a genuinely good guy, someone who I can invite to the cookout and not worry about him starting up some stupid shit

Does his job well and quite obv. is passionate about the sport and athletes. Seems like a standup guy.

I like him though he def. has some weird things that get on my nerves like his weird "HA!". Also who can forget the custody thing. That whole thing is still hilarious to me.

Yep his laugh is definitely annoying

Anik is fixated on young children. He often mentions the names of fighters' kids on the broadcast, such as referring to a fighter as "<name of their kid>'s dad". It is pretty creepy.

Not the biggest fan of his but i have to admit he has somewhat grown on me these last couple of years.

He seems to be in it for the long run, is willing to learn and thus is far more knowledgeable now then when he first started.

Very sharp, well researched, professional. Not overbearing or invasive. Somewhat bland. I’ll take him over Mike Goldberg, god bless Mike’s soul. I find the Rogan/DC/Anik “Ohhhhh!!!!” overacting overreactions to be very annoying but that’s not his fault, I think he got dragged into that BS.

People act like he's still the same generic broadcaster who was just slotted in by corporate like he was at the start. That guy sucked.

But he's a genuine fan nowadays and has been for many years, which lends genuine excitement, inquisition to what's happening, etc. alongside his generic professional demeanor. Which none of the other broadcasters have at the booth.

The dude's had my respect ever since he said he'd get a Diaz tattoo if Diaz somehow beat Conor and afterwards actually went and did it as promised.

Again, the guy actually is a far bigger fan than people give him credit for. Far more than most of you to be honest.

Does his job well enough, and not too memorable.

He's no Goldie that's for sure. Doesn't have any quotes that are forever stamped in MMA lore, like "his precision is very precise", "even Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Forrest Griffin", and "Jordan-esque is Lutter's jiu jitsu".

<Goldie11>

Does he really have to do that over the top accent whenever any Boston fighter is walking to the cage.

I think he's the best commentator that isn't a former fighter, it's just a shame the UFC has him do all the sponsorships.

This is my only real complaint about him.

Look, I understand the UFC has contractual obligations to plug their sponsors throughout the night. But Anik often chooses the worst times to do it. Someone else will be talking or about to say something, something just happened, whatever and he'll still launch into the Nemiroff/Modelo/Proper 12 ad without missing a beat instead of only doing the ad read during an actual lull. Then just say "Sorry, what were you saying?" as though he didn't interrupt to flow of the commentary.

I don't know if the UFC's contracts are just structured that he has to say the ad when told to, at exact moments during the night, or something as it's otherwise baffling some of the timing of his ad reads. Say the ad naturally.

Plus, yeah. I'd just love to hear Joe, DC, or whoever do an ad read for once lol. Bonus points if they did it Tim Dillon or Andrew Schultz style where they just blatantly phone it in and said whatever the fuck they wanted about the product instead of the comms approved message.

Anik does his job pretty well. I find the UFC commentary in English insufferable, but he's not the problem.

Compared to the other goofs, Anik is inoffensive and kind of just blends in with the rest of the noise. Very refreshing. Plus he seems to understand what he's seeing.

It's sad that this is the bar, but it's true. I'm not a fan, but he's better than Goldie or Mauro, so why complain when it could be so much worse
