Thinking about BSN for BJJ

Hey you guys,

Im 16 and train BJJ 3 times a week and do a 3 day split for weightlifting. Still a little overweight (15pds or so), and looking to lose 10 to 15pds of fat. After 30 mins of intense calestenics im not at my top game for drills and then sparring. Im wondering about using a product like BSN NO Xplode(either the igniter shot, or the stick version of it i think it's called NT). I wanted to know if it was safe, I figured it was something like 5 hour energy which is now 3.00 dollars a bottle!! So plz give me the details or maybe recomend another safe energy booster.

All I can say about no xplode is that you will xplode (on the toilet)
I'm pretty sure the stuff is time released, so if you use it, stick to your regimen, Im not sure if they recommend that stuff for 16 yrs. old tho.
 
The greatest danger in using a product such as this is to your budget. As many have clearly stated on this forum before, "energy boosters" such as this, are nothing more than large amounts of caffeine and sugar with a little artificial flavoring mixed in. Yes, when you look at the nutritional information label you will see a laundry list of ingredients, however, the above two are the basic make up of it. Keep training consistently, eat right and the endurance will come eventually. If you do need a 'chemical boost' so to say, a good cup or two of coffee will do fine and cost MUCH less.
 
All of those "fancy" pre-workout drinks have made me shit my brains out within like 45 minutes of ingesting. I believe it was the huge dose of magnesium but I may be misremembering. Anyway, just grab any of the myriad energy drinks about an hour before practice if you just need a boost. I'd recommend going easy though, caffeine can make you feel energetic but it can also make you empty your tank faster.
 
Caffeine pill, green tea extract pill or two and yohimbe and you will be fine. If you want a hard core boost look into geranium extract.
