This is nothing more than a possible scenario, maybe even in the realm of flat earth conspiracy theories.

By moving up, Ilia is clearing the path for his brother to move to Featherweight. We can possibly have two Topurias dominating the scene. Aleksandre might have a shot at gold later in the year if he moves up, puts on 2/3 fights, and wins in convincing fashion.

Ilia has the toughest opponent in Islam, but anything can happen.

Discuss, shit on me, up to you Sherbros.

I haven't read anything to indicate Alexandre Topuria wants to move up. Is he having trouble making weight?

No one likes to cut weight. His weight cut videos are brutal by the way, it seems like it wasn't «easy», a lot of work went into it.

Liking it and doing it to remain competitive are two totally different things. The number of fighters below HW that walk around at a weight anywhere near their weight class is miniscule.

aleksandre isn't that big so I think he'll stay at 135, I hope they fast track him in that weight class, he seems ready for it considering he shut out thick boy 30-27 who is a decent prospect

No matter what his brother is going to be awhile before he gets to a title shot even if he moved up. I doubt it.
