I’m a HUGE fan of creature features so the Thing checks all the boxes for my taste. Doesn’t mean the Shining isn’t awesome, but the Thing is more up my alley.

I like The Thing a lot more. It seems a lot of the appeal in The Shining is in the analysis and subtext which I'm terrible with. I guess I can't really give The Shining a fair shake. But The Thing for me is a 10/10

The Shining is one of the most overrated films of all-time. People wouldn’t like it nearly as much if Kubrick didn’t direct it.

Proud of my fellow doggers on this one. I've always felt The Shining was overrated. Certainly not a bad movie, but it's just not the kind of horror classic that can be watched again and again, imo.

For all his badass lunacy Jack is only able to kill one person, and it's the black guy in a scary movie in 1980. If Jack didn't kill him he would have fallen down a flight of stairs anyway.

The Shining. It's quite possibly my favorite horror movie. It's just so damn good and entertaining from beginning to end.
