I see this said a lot on Sherdog, what are the reasons that people believe this? The UFC stomps/soccer kicks/knees to downed opponents rule is one.

The way I see it, the rules favor strikers. The fact that there are rounds favor strikers. Stand ups in the middle of the fight favors strikers. Wearing gloves to prevent hand injury favor strikers.

Some people are going to say the scoring favors grapplers that take people down and lay on them.

The knees/kicks to a grounded opponent does favor wrestlers, because they basically have free reign to shoot without fear of consequences. That's really it, though.

Knees to downed opponents favor strikers more than it does wrestlers/grapplers. Who do you think would be in position to be kneed on the ground more often, the striker or the grappler? No 12-to-6 elbows also favor strikers. Not hitting the back of the head, attacks to the spine also favor strikers.

A wrestler who knows little striking will almost always win vs a striker who knows little wrestling.

Vovchanchyn/Kerr 1 says you're wrong.

The rules favor strikers. I think that knees to a grounded opponent also favor wrestlers/grapplers not strikers.

That's judging criteria, not rules.
Why even make the thread then? Scoring favors wrestlers.

The rules favor strikers. If fighters are on the ground, with no action they get stood up. If fighters are standing with no action, they don't get put on the ground.

because fox would tell the ufc to take a hike if someone got stomped and kneed into a lifeless corpse on live tv

I see it constantly reiterated on Sherdog that the rules favor wrestlers/grapplers, that's why I made the thread

I think the judging heavily favours wrestlers, not the rules.

Look at McGregor vs Mendes. Chad got tagged, hurt, winded and beat up, but he lands a takedown and lays on top of a guy for a minute and everyone, including fans, think it's a no brainer to give him the round. Then they'll go in another thread and declare they score fights based on the amount of damage done, it's absurd.
