I have been watching some old Rock appearances and I gotta say, I think he might be the very best SNL host, or at least he's really up there.

These three sketches all made me belly laugh when I saw them and I feel like they hold up

Rock is hit and miss in movies but he has a great record on TV between SNL and WWE

Agreed, if people are compiling lists of best hosts of all time, he’s gotta be on there, particularly if you’re expanding to a list of top 20 or something like that. He basically delivered every time out. I’ve even seen some subpar sketches where he was excellent in them- just really committed to the character and operating smoothly without flubs or making the card reading too blatant.

There were two sketches featuring Cecily Strong as her British character Gemma where the Rock just nailed the obnoxious type of character he was playing. Strong did that character with multiple other hosts but no one really sold it to the extent that The Rock did.

Not to mention, he was very good from his first time hosting onward. Sometimes it takes people more than one attempt to really get comfortable in that spot.

I'm not a fan of the Rock but he definitely delivers the goods when he hosts SNL.

But no, he's not the best host ever. Probably the best non-actor/non-comedian host ever though. Which means he beats Michael Jordan and Nancy Kerrigan.

Who would you say is better? I thought Mike Myers did a good job but I don’t think he has hosted much

I think Louis CK delivered the greatest opening monologue in history, so that alone puts him in the discussion.

Then you've got guys like Alec Baldwin who turned out to be shockingly funny when he hosted (this was before 30 Rock, back when he was primarily a serious actor).

Then you've got Steve Martin who's always hilarious, and a whole host of former cast members that came back to host, like Will Ferrell, Eddie Murphy, and Norm MacDonald.

Compared to Rock I see them all as scissors

Ever notice the dorks wear the dress 👗 bend the knee and suddenly make egregious amounts of money? Plastered everywhere?

Kat called these plants out.
