Been watching the UFC since UFC I.
Likely before 99.99% of anyone on here was even "alive" ... let alone a UFC fan.

Not sure how many realize that the original premise of the UFC was real streetfighting ,,, with minimal rules ,,, and no weight classes and ,,, no time limits.

Over time, changes were made to "fit television" ... and (IMO) they watered-down the original premise,

The only thing I agree with today (in the incremental changes) was the introduction of Weight Classes, because there are many great fighters at specific weights. Boxing has recognized this for Centuries

That said, today's UFC fights are too "sporting" ... and they have lost the essence of what the UFC was originally all about: Total Street-Fighting Excellence, NO (or minimal) RULES.
  • Removing "12-6 Elbows" ...
  • Removing "Kneeing downed opponents" ...
  • Removing "Nutshots and headbutts" ...
I mean, WTF?

Petr Yan would have finished Aljo the first time. (No 2-year charade.)
Too many rules have ruined the chaotic element of the original UFC, in my opinion.

I do agree that eyes pokes are no good, only because of the permanent damage that could come out of it, but every other one of the "abolished techniques" should still be legal, IMO.

One 15 minute round and nobody would be saved by the bell. Getting saved by some artificial time limit when you are getting choked out or pounded to bolivian is one of the things that bugs me the most. Of course the fight has to have some limit but not breaks during it imo. The one most unrealistic part of the current system.

Your join date checks out

Imagine thinking that my "join date" = my life experience.

Only a backward, metrosexual fuck would think this.

I have been a fighter / fight fan before Sherdog existed.

This isnt street fighting. Real street fighting isnt that entertaining, doesnt sell that much tickets, would be banned from TV,and thus be unattractive to the best fighters in the world to compete in.

Your threads look like Sean O'Malley.

the break between rounds is a big part of the appeal. Will the guy quit? will his corner be able to make the adjustments? its dramatic and makes for good TV. Its why people bother watching,as they did with boxing.

You say this as somebody who came "afterward" ...

At the end of the day, everyone wants to know who would win "in a real streetfight" ...

It's true, real street fights can involve weapons, guns, knives, etc.

There is no promotion that can sanction this type of activity.

However, within the realm of "bare hands" ... the Original UFC came closest.

They should have stuck with this.

Imagine starting a thread with “Been watching the UFC since UFC I.
Likely before 99.99% of anyone on here was even "alive" ... let alone a UFC fan.” yet having no receipts and being insecure when called out on it.

Your yellow card must be for lying too lol

Where did you fight ?

There's street King on youtube or what's it called. That's something for you.

Out of a fighters perspective removing rules is terrible. Health and financially wise.

I like It being a sport.

It's always Fans who don't compete demanding harder rules. Imagine you getting elbowed to the back of the head. Fighting no time limits till one person is wrecked.

It's different to do this for a career then having had a fight here and there. Like who would fight vale tudo for a career of 30 fights.

it's funny how you call someone a metrosexual for saying your join date doesnt matter, and just assume out of your ass when I started watching. Not that its surprising coming from you....just saying.

It's true that it really raises the bar competitively. One of the examples is TJ, he always made adjustments that his corner called for. Jon Jones is another good example, I mean, he might not have countered Machida without any outside input.

And no i dont give two shits who would win in a real street fight. They arent fightin in a street fight, they arent gonna fight in a street fight. No one is trying to prove any of that.

However, in real life, no one gets "a break between rounds" ...

That's a big difference between "a real situation" ... and "a sport" ...

Yeah they got pulled ftom PPV LOL
I thought you were watching from day one and yet you dont know ANYTHING

You clearly had a beer or two ...

You're excited ... that's great.

It doesn't mean what I'm saying isn't real.

Aljamain "won" over Sterling, when in fact he was out-manned the first time.

On his knees, before another man, getting kneed/KO'd ...

Was that a satisfying result to you, with a method actor "rolling his eyes" to an "illegal knee"?

As a metrosexual, you might agree.

In real life, in their first meet, had it been a street fight, Yan would have ended Aljamain's life.

That's what the UFC was originally about, determining who would win in a real street fight, before you were a smile on your daddy's face.

You don't get "2nd and 3rd chances" in real life ...
