Thread to talk about movies about rasslin, rasslers in movies, TV shows where they watch rasslin on tv in one scene, rasslin reality shows and for Higher Power to ask "Whatever happened to that HBO show about wrestling?"

I'll start it off with the trailer for Rowdy Roddy Pipers new movie about rasslin called The Masked Saint
Looks decent to me but since its kinda faith based Im sure it wont get any play

I was young and stupid but it's no excuse. My friends didn't let me pick the movie for years afterward

Damn, I thought this was gonna be a thread about WWE studio movies

I tend to like most of them

lately I have seen Vendetta, The Condemned 2 and also 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown

LOL HAH!
i don't blame them honestly
this is hilarious xD

Well Im pretty sure WWE Studios films fit into the parameters laid out in the OP

anyone a fan of the old Santo & Blue Demon B-movies? I try to watch a few around Halloween time, they are great fun. You can find some on youtube but I'm not sure if they are subtitled but honestly you don't really needs subs.

I've seen a few of them. Santos vs the Vampire Women - which had some superb, Mario Bava inspired visuals, was rather memorable. But Santos wasn't introduced until like half-way in, which was rather strange and jarring since the film until that point had been dead-faced serious. My favorite is probably The Champions of Justice (with Blue Demon) in which the luchardores fight a fiendish gang of masked midgets out to kidnap all the Miss Mexico contestants.:icon_lol:. It's absolutely outlandish and hysterical. The rest I don't remember being all that memorable. I've seen ones where he meets Dracula, and one about Batwoman, but the trailer you posted looks rather fun (resurecting all the classical monsters and all that jazz). Any recommendations (I've heard that Santo vs. the Diabolical Hatchet is supposed to be pretty good)?

Speaking of WWE Studios, it's interesting that they have branched out and done movies that have nothing to do with wrestling and that feature no wrestlers.

I remember seeing their logo before Oculus and was like, The fuck?

Such an odd combination of ideas I find comical.

A pro-wrestler uses his (snort) wrestling skills to become a crimefighting vigilante like the classic martial arts plot. I guess if we can pretend Wushu is deadly, we can pretend puroresu is, too.

Clearly another movie produced by Christians with their "we shall overcome" narrative as we see black people threatening to kill Christians for praying. I guess we can also pretend Christian persecution in America is real.

Piper's performance looks really, really good. Dude has been training.

No Holds Barred in the single greatest wrestling movie ever and anyone who says different is a communist.

i watched vendetta recently. was excited because the soska sisters directed it, and i love them honestly. they're really great gals. and i liked what they did with see no evil 2 (went into that expecting absolute shit bc wwe movie, but was pleasantly surprised).

but . . . really didn't enjoy this one ):
felt just like a wwe movie
the one thing im grateful for tho is that they didn't show a brutal scene of what that guy did to the other guy's wife, so there's that i guess.
