This might be some what of a hot take, but i think this might be the most exciting time in WW History. IMHO the previous best time for the WW division was when Matt Hughes had the belt up until GSP cleaned house. At that time we had Hughes who was Dominant. We had BJ Penn who defeated him, and GSP who he had defeated. The Hughes/Penn 2 fight, GSP vs Hughes 2 all the way to GSP vs BJ 2. was great times. We had guys like diaz , karo, deigo, and Pre USADA alves looking like a monster all at some point or another. I know im leaving out LOTS of stuff from that era but you get my point.

If you look right now, there are THREE very serious hype trains with what looks like goat potential, AS WELL as, what some people consider to be the most dominant WW in UFC history. Sean Brady 15-0, Khamzat Chimaev 11-0, Shavkat Rakhmonov 16-0, All have what seems to be potential to become the champion. The problem is, all 4 of them cannot be champ, Not at once anyway. I am excited to see what the future holds for us as fans.

For me, ever since Robbie lost the belt to Woodley the WW divison has been pretty stale. Usman while in some pretty good fights recently, is kind of boring him self. Colby isnt the most exciting, and I think most true fans know Masvidal was never a contender at WW. I couldn't really get too excited for his big fights at WW because it was pretty clear what was going to happen. Leon is good but also not exciting. I think that after this leon fight we could start to get into a time where we start to see some really exciting WW match ups.

Id lake to make one disclaimer, Im not saying any of these guys are the future goat. I just know that each of these guys has great skills and some fans behind them that are willing to say it about each guy. Its not possible for them all to be correct so this is going to be good.

what do you guys think? Are we in for a very special time in the WW division here pretty soon? What era do you feel like was the most exciting?

Barely even a mention...

he falls outside of the "most exciting time" for me. I love Robbie and hes one of my all time favs. I just didnt find the time with him Johnny and Rory to be as exciting for the WW picture a a whole. I was shocked when robbie got some of those decisions to be totally honest. If this was a post about the most exciting WW, Robbie would have been all over this. I however, am talking about an entire weight class, and the history of the sport... If you recall, Robbie was at 185 being exciting during these times and only came back to WW durring a period I personally dont find to be the most exciting.

where was i wrong?

Get the fuck out of here. The period when Robbie was champ was great. This is some hilarious recency bias.

Sean Brady does not impress me, his striking seems pretty slow and labored and his mat grappling isn't amazing although he's a strong, young and determined wrestler who's undefeated. Roberto Soldic to me, is way more exciting and I also think Soldic has more impressive wins than Brady in Khalidov and Du Plessis mainly but even his split decision loss to Amosov is a big showing.

Rakhmonov and Chimaev look amazing, the kind of dominance they're showing in the UFC is a rare thing ans they're big, athletic, well rounded, undefeated finishing machines. This is the most exciting WW has been in a decade or more, especially with Usman being such a dominant champ reigning over such a shallow and sad division filled with old men and Lighrweights for so long besides Leon and Colby.

GSP vs Hughes, GSP vs Penn, GSP vs Diaz, GSP vs Hendricks...these were HUGE deals. I'm not sure if it's the most exciting in history, but it's the most exciting it's been in a long while.

lol, gotta be kidding

ww is absolute shit apart from khamzat and shavkat

talent-wise ww was at its best during late stage gsp reign.
the division had condit, hendricks, ellenberger, fitch, rory, shields, nick, kos all below the GOAT

thank you for reading the post and the amazing response. i Agree with everything you said, except i need to do homework on Soldic. I could be a sherbro and pretend to know wtf im talkng about or look him up, but I want to go actually learn more lol. The idea being that if these guys are all legit, then we could be about to witness some wild fights. I miss those days, im right there with you.

If you can't even be consistent in your own posts then that's your problem.

f you look right now, there are THREE very serious hype trains with what looks like goat potential

Those are your words. You wrote them. If you don't want people to criticize you then don't write nonsense.

Also, yes, it's a matter of opinion. I stated my opinion and you got upset.

comprehension is KEY. You have to read the whole post before you respond. Its all good i get your probably not the type to admit when they are wrong. Im sure you are working on it. Good day

also im not upset, why would i be able to get upset by a random sherdog post?

There are also a bunch of up and comers to keep the division interesting for years to come.

Jeremiah Wells, Jack Della Maddalena, Ian Garry, Michael Morales, Rinat Fakhretdinov, Mike Malott just to name a few.

Some more guys to go dig deeper on. Garry is pretty exciting but im not qualified to say how good he is or isnt. The other guys the same. Im about to go watch some of their fights now! thanks for the direction!

Yeah comprehension is key. I comprehended your nonsense perfectly. In case you need a reminder:

f you look right now, there are THREE very serious hype trains with what looks like goat potential

What's even more "key" is writing a consistent and intelligible post and not getting upset when someone has a different opinion. When you grow up, you'll understand.

Unless Brady lay and prey them all and turn it into the worst time in any weight class history
