There was a Brazilian catch wresler named Rufino Dos Santos who beat Carlos Gracie in a challenge bout and later proceeded to call Carlos out for his unsportman-like conduct before, during and after the bout like trying to get the result annulled. In retaliation, Carlos, Helio and George Gracie ambushed Rufino and beat him up with a metal tool carried by Helio Gracie. But this was not enough, he was held so Carlos Gracie could put him in a Jiu Jitsu armlock that resulted in a complete dislocation, joint rupture and separation. He survived but the ambush caused a career ending injury, The three Gracies were eventually arrested and sentenced to 2 and half years of jail time though it appears they didn't serve actual time to their influence.
This is not the only time the Gracies committed such acts. They also destroyed Greco Roman Wrestler Joao Baldi in the same way, but in that occasion Oswaldo Gracie joined the gang, so it was 4 against one.
