Although many fans simply don't give a damn about the Fertitta "family" history, the fact is one man's death paved the way for this family to remain rich and powerful back in 1993. That man was Carl Thomas, a notorious figure in the skimming scandal popularized in the movie Casino.

Before he died, Thomas had agreed to appear before the Missouri Gaming Commission to discuss a pending license request filed by Station Casinos in that state. Also before he died, Thomas met with Station Casinos officials in Las Vegas, which most likely included Frank Fertitta Junior and possibly even his son Frank III. On the way back to his home in Oregon, Thomas crashed his Suburban on a gravel road in Frenchglen, Oregon.

Until now, all the details of this "accident" have been kept in the shadows, relegated to forums like this one and Web-sites without a solid reputation for factual reporting. (Google Scoop McTroll and the Z Files).

I personally reached out to the Harney County Sheriff's office last October and requested the full records of the crash. I've just released those records for public viewing as part of the latest story on www.xyiencesucks.com.

HERE IS THE LINK TO THAT INTERESTING ARTICLE

Now, let the debate begin. Was it murder, or was it just a very convenient accident?

Cool to see the Culinary Union made a sherdog account.

There's nothing earth shattering about a rich person having done dirty things to get where they are at.

It's almost expected. Especially with a casino owner.

This doesn't change my opinion of them at all. It's like finding out that a politician lied or an athlete is using banned substances.

As they love to say on sherdog... Is Normal

Really funny, but way off the mark. I hate the Culinary Union's approach, and I've made that sentiment very public.

Just because someone writes an article critical of the Fertittas doesn't make him a supporter of the union.
if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

sure you don't have to a union guy to dislike the fertittas but i've never once seen someone interested in them in a negative way that wasn't tied to the unions (except maybe espn talking about fighter pay but that's about it)

besides... just look at the website you quoted, it's general theme, and name, and the other articles.

No one else does such brash anti-anything tied to UFC bullshit other than the culinary unions (who by the way, can all go swallow a bucket load)

Really? Sounds like you flunked out of detective school. Basically you are intimating that anyone who thinks the Fertittas are the scum of the earth has to be connected to unions. That makes no sense. I've been reporting on the Fertittas and Xyience since 2006, long before the Culinary Union debacle began. Obviously Dana White has you brainwashed into thinking the UFC and its founding fathers have always been on the up and up, and anyone who thinks otherwise has a union agenda. How about you back up your BS with some actual factual observations?

I love how conspiracy theorists like you present speculation as facts and then demand facts from others to disprove their speculations. GTFO with your tin foil hat and your hidden agenda.

That was painful to read. Nothing of any substance was presented in that drivel.

I just read the article. It was absolute trash.

I'd like to know the writer's motivation? Did a Fertitta bang your girlfriend? Mom?

I'm sure the Fertitta's have done lots of shit in their life that they wouldn't want in the newspapers. But trying to bring up an old death with zero evidence and trying to link it to the current Fertitta's is just silly.

A guy crashed and died alone on a road. That never happens unless it's foul play.

If you believe otherwise, you are a ZUFFA ZOMBIE SHEEPLE.

Very true. Maybe I was too harsh on TS. He seems like a very rational person.

speculation as fact?

Now that's even funnier than the Culinary joke.

How is it that I'm presenting speculation as fact when I leave the question open as to whether it was murder or an accident?

Anyone presenting speculation as fact here would be suggesting it was definitely murder. Nowhere do I say that.

The FACT is I'm presenting speculation as speculation, and you obviously don't know the difference.

So you want to DEBATE on the basis of pure speculation? You went from conniving to just plain dumb.

maybe you should read my first post where I said even if this were completely true it wouldn't change my opinion of the fertittas at all. I don't care. I certainly don't think the UFC has always been "on the up and up" and I don't care if they haven't.

ps: the funniest thing about the whole union debacle to me (regardless of whether you're with them or not) is that it's so obviously not going to work and yet they keep trying.

Do they (in your opinion) actually believe they're going to get what they want from all this? Do they honestly believe that the Fertittas will cave in and give them what they want?

It's clearly not going to happen. Their efforts are in vain. The only tiny victory they've ever had was keeping the UFC out of New York (and that could have nothing to do with them actually) and yet the UFC doesn't need New York at all.

So what's the point? Why do they write articles no one believes (or if they do believe, they don't care about)?

Why do silly little smear campaigns like "protect the children" or "Cain is betraying his fellow hispanics" and other stuff they've done, when everyone and their mother can see they don't actually give a shit about that and it's all about getting their union deal (WHICH THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET)

So what's the point?

It is a fact that Carl Thomas' death was very convenient for the Fertittas, and it obviously helped them expand their empire.

But I thought you were just presenting speculation?
