For all the talk about how unorthodox Conor is the only thing about him thats really unique is that he's a long range southpaw pressure fighter. Other than that he's actually orthodox as hell which is why he's whipping MMA guys the way he is.
He does things the right way, he's accurate, throws intelligent combos, keeps his feet set, has good balance (when pressuring), can exploit the sorts of "rules of thumb" that MMA fighters internalise such as getting your foot on the outside of a southpaws. Pretty much the story of his career is starching people as they leave their stance, a flaw that should be beaten out of everyone but is still unbelievably common in high level MMA.
