Ok, so i have armbar elbow, and now its a day after it happened and its still sore. Any tips from more experienced guys about what to do, an not to that will aid recovery.

I'm just thinking try to rest it up as much as possible, but are there any other thing you guys do. I dont want to 'man up' and just continue to roll and make it worse, unless of course that will somehow help it get better.

Rest, ice, anti-inflammatories and rolling with my hand in my belt for a couple weeks does it for me.

First 72 hours, rest, ice and compressions as said. After that start adding heat to the mix. Then very light exercise for the joint ...

And it keeps that arm from getting bar'ed again too :o)

I got viciously armbarred in comp, and did what was said above..

You just have to take it easy and do some small PT type exersizes slowly to help get full capability back to it.

I have about another week before i'm good..

I also take joint rebuilding vitamins (Glaucosamine). Yeah I know I misspelled the name but when taken regualarly they work great for me.

Also compression sleeves work wonders in early days to help with any swelling etc ( Let us not forget that C in RICE!)

Any negatives to the glucosamine, my friend was telling me to take that. What exactly is it?
Its been about 24 hours an its starting to loosen up a bit, full extension is fine, but when getting close to fully bent it starts to hurt a little.

Glucosamine HCL & MSM

I take both daily 1500mg each. It takes about 6 weeks of taking it in your system to get any results....thus not gonna help you now.

Elbow sleve, advil or aleve, rest....repeat...Aesopian said it best

Hey, how about elevation ?

I believe (but I may be wrong) that it's appopriate to rest the injured area above heart level.

In case of the elbow...well....hmm.....it's already above it, I guess.......never mind

When I got my elbow cranked, I just took a week or so and really did nothing with that arm. I didn't use it all in training because I learned the hard way that if you do, you WILL only double your recovery time. Keep it rested, I kept mine kind of bent in to my chest when I could and some aspirin can't hurt either. Biggest thing is to stay off of it for a little whilee even if it means missing some training.
