I believe this was a tournament where you were either classified as a stiker or grappler. Strikers couldn't submit; grapplers couldn't strike. For some reason Paulson was considered a striker, so it really put him at a disadvantage--especially with the size difference--against a legit pro boxer who also had kickboxing skills.
