There's some good conversations to be had around YouTube, and the talent that proliferates it.
I know it's a common habit to dismiss YouTubers as, well, just YouTubers... but the reality is, they're illustrating how useless the mainstream "establishment" is, by simply outperforming it - despite the obstacles put in their paths.
Mauler, The Critical Drinker, Filmento are all infinitely better than more traditional movie reviewers - not only do they put effort into creating and maintaining their gimmicks, but they often offer a higher grade perspective of storytelling, film techniques, etc.
Whatever you might think of them, many of YouTube's political commentators often offer far better analysis than a hack factory like CNN - guys on both the right and the left (though, admittedly, the online left often lacks in comparison to the online right). Look at Destiny recently making Richard Wolff, a leading communist economist, look like the deranged idiot he is. And here in South Africa, a political podcaster like Big Daddy Liberty does a much better job of covering stories than do the established media and news outlets.
The Paul brothers have turned out to be pretty damned good promoters. And one of them may well be the favourite going into his fight with Tyron Woodley, after the other one made Floyd Mayweather look a little silly.
Decentralisation is showing just how much talent has traditionally fallen through the gaps, as relative nobodies now have the platforms available for direct comparisons to be made between them and their respective establishments.
Considering the battering that the reputations of "experts" have taken over the past few years, it's all very interesting to see unfold.
