I guess Bruce needed the money.

The original Batmobile from the 1960s television series has sold at auction for $4.2 million.

A spokeswoman for the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. in Scottsdale, Ariz., says the winning bidder has not been disclosed following Saturday's auction.

The 19-foot-long black, bubble-topped car was used in the "Batman" TV show that starred Adam West as the Caped Crusader.

The car's owner

And if Bruce Wayne isn't in the 1%, who is?

The original Batman show was the %#^-ing bomb, and the car was awesome. Glad to hear someone appreciates it and took care of it.

Only worth that much if Adam West comes with it and acts like he does on Family Guy.

God its hideous , but cool, a weird paradox.

to me there is only one:

Don't know if this is the one I read about, but in the 90's when one of the batman movies came out they compared the car in it to the original.

The one in the movie was basically a production car w/ a lot of sheet metal that listed a max speed of 92 mph. The old batmobile was a highly customized beast that IIRC demonstrated 150 mph.

There must be more then one batmobile because I distinctly remember seeing one here in virginia when I was a kid. Its vanity plate even said "batmobile." Maybe it was touring.

Alot of people have built their own, I know of one guy who takes it to childrens hospitals for the kids and he dresses as batman.

The video describes under-the-hood stuff on the newer car much different from what I recall reading. I couldn't find the article, unfortunately but it would be prob. 20 years old.

It may have been from a different movie or perhaps they souped it up in the meantime. I understand they often have multiple cars for a movie- one for going fast, one with all the gizmos on it, etc.

Thanks for posting the vid!

Damn, and my protege only sold for $500
