I watched the Rumble with friends on Sunday, I loved it. We actually play a gambling game where we each pay 5 dollars and all 30 of us pick one number out of the hat. Who ever enters at that number is our wrestler. I felt good this year when I picked 30.

My lady got a really early number and I laughed at her until AJ Styles came out as her guy. I was pretty jealous. I think it was clear that AJ looked like he belonged with those guys.

I saw AJ's match on RAW with Jericho and loved it. I feel like they are treating him like a ready made star which I am happy about. I love the teasing towards the styles clash without letting him get it yet. I hope this build up is to show us that his move is special.

I have two concerns as far as AJ goes;

1) AJ is only average in the microphone. This will be tough for the WWE because they even force Reigns to cut promos. Brock is one of few guys who gets away with not having to cut goofy promos. I think AJ can not be touched in the ring, hes the best, coolest move set and great story teller but, I worry how the WWE will treat his average promos. I am hoping they take the Jeff Hardy route and just let him go in the ring and minimize his mic work.

2) AJ is not a mark for himself. This sounds like a good thing but, really AJ was willing to go to NXT and develop down there for a bit before a coming to the main roster. AJ is the best wrestler alive right now, he does not belong on nxt. AJ needs to really stand up for his character and protect his character because Vince will not preserve him in any way, shape or form. AJ needs to be a bit more selfish, AJ is always looking to make other people.

What are your thoughts?? Will AJ get over as he has everywhere else he has been? Or will AJ toil like so many others??

Yes, AJ got to do nearly all of his spots during the Rumble match, showed off his flair, his athleticism and had a decent match with Jericho and they (WWE) actually gave them 15mins which is very uncommon. The one thing that often dumbfounded me with wrestling, be with WCW back in the day or the WWE, is they pay some incoming "star" a bunch of money only to do nothing with them. What's the point? Hopefully they do something with Styles

Hopefully this stunt works out it; it could foreshadow a return to glory for Petey WIlliams, Shark Boy, and Curry Man.

AJ definitely got the biggest pop from the crowd out of all of the guys that entered the Rumble. He's already over with the WWE crowd.

We do have to keep in mind the RR was held in Orlando, a city which is very familiar with AJ. He didn't get much of a reaction on RAW but then again that crowd was dead for everybody.

I suppose I need to see a lot more of AJ styles to confirm his as the pro wrestling jezus like all hardcore fans.. But I did think he did a great job taking bumps. His offense wasn't game changing but certainly on par or even slightly above. Hes defiantly too small though. I don't see him getting much respect being so petite.

Everything about the Nakamura v Styles match shows that he can go.

His match with Jericho was good... not great but it was a good feature. Did enough to show that he can go.

The height on that forearm smash is fucking ridiculous... more of that please.

I don't understand the size objection. Lots of guys have gotten over being smaller.

I can never take Kevin Nash's opinion on anything seriously.

AJ definitely had to slow down in that match to give grandpa Jericho a chance to keep up. Hoping they have him work with the younger guys that can work with him step for step.

I look forward to styles vs Cesaro, styles vs ziggler, Rollins, Owens.

Yes, you could definitely see the match wasn't exactly smooth because Jericho couldn't keep up and he's always had heavier feet to begin with. A decent match, and very good by RAW standards.

Again, great news for Styles that his shirt sold out in less than a few hours. Moving merchandise is important to the WWE
