They're doing the vintage matchmaking that makes Terence look like a world beater

Bet the house on round 1 finish. Then against a good opponent with resistance to his blitz we know what'll happen.

This is the level of opponent that Mckinney can smash in 2 minutes. Problem for him is he gets his ass kicked by anyone above that level.

On the one hand, I tend to think Duncan is pretty bad (despite his shiny record) and is barely skating by in a lot of these fights with a bit of luck. He is very plodding and defensively irresponsible on the feet and nothing he does offensively really jumps off the page at me.

That being said, McKinney is a very flawed fighter in his own right. He has tons of potential plus every athletic gift you could ask for... except cardio. The man is probably one of the fastest, most explosive, and physically powerful guys at 155, but he's a one-round fighter. He's a holy terror in that first round and is legitimately capable of finishing anyone in the division on the right night, but after those first five minutes he falls off a cliff. It doesn't help that he has zero stomach for adversity or pressure coming back in his direction. He's the epitome of a bully inside the cage: the guy who is a really good hammer, but sucks at being the nail. Between that and his arguably suspect durability, it all adds up to mean that once someone takes control of the bout's momentum from him he melts right away. I'm not even getting into the mental game/intangibles.

Duncan, despite being very mediocre, is pretty durable. Borschev is the only guy to ever finish him with strikes and he never got dropped in either of his UFC fights or in his other DWCS appearance despite eating a lot of nasty shots. I think McKinney has enough to match Borschev's performance if he connects clean with Duncan while fresh. But Chris is going to be crashing forward swinging some hammers of his own and while he's not quite as powerful, he is definitely capable of hurting McKinney. I don't have a good read on the grappling exchanges. Terrance seems to be able to take most guys down at will in that first round, but Chris is a guy who grapples in a lot of his own fights and we haven't really been able to see what he looks like defensively in that area. Yanal shot one takedown on him and got stuffed, but his arm was compromised so it's hard to read too much into that. No one else has tried. For what it's worth, Duncan has never been subbed as a pro or amateur. Plus, perhaps most critically, he has shown solid cardio and the ability to fight at a steady pace while pressuring his opponent with power punches and offensive wrestling for 15 minutes straight.

If McKinney doesn't crack Duncan early like Slava Claus did (which is very possible considering his explosiveness and Chris's awful striking defense) or outclass him in the grappling by taking him down and immediately finishing him on the mat -- being the first to ever do so -- then I think Duncan is very live to rally in rounds 2 and 3 and grind out a late TKO against a wilting McKinney. It's worth noting that Duncan recently stopped working full time and is now training regularly at ATT. He supposedly puts in a lot of work with dudes like Poirier, Dawson, Masvidal, Amosov, and Moicano. IMO, we've more or less seen McKinney's ceiling if he keeps fighting the way he does now (and he has made it clear that he intends to do just that). Meanwhile, I think Duncan is capable of making incremental improvements to his game with each fight camp at ATT and may have already done so. He looked... marginally better against Yanal in some areas than he did against Morales, but it's hard to say that with any degree of certainty considering the early arm break from Ashmouz and the fact that he couldn't even finish said fight.

Hoping McKinney starches him in one rd but more than likely Duncan out cardios him to a second round finish

I've got Duncan winning. Boy they're really using McKinney's contract out to its fullest, 4th fight this year, 8th since joining the UFC last year. I'll always have a soft spot for him for winning me some big money against Frevola.

Nah Duncan looked pretty good in his last fight, he should be good enough to survive Terrance's usual round 1 blitz. As we know with Terrance that's pretty much all he needs to do to ensure a victory.

This is gonna be fun, great matchmaking. I think McKinney's initial burst works, 1st round TKO.

The fact that McKinney has won a fight in the UFC is kind of remarkable. He is a glass cannon with no cardio and no fight IQ.. It's actually insane he's even in the UFC. I'll be watching for however long this experiment lasts.

This is very good match making.i think Mckinney gets it done but if Duncan can survive the first 3-4 mins this could get interesting.
