So can anyone enlighten me as to why the US hasn't produced a men's grand slam winner since... what, Roddick at least a decade ago? You used to be pretty good - Sampras, Courier, Chang, Agassi, not to mention the bad-tempered boys, Connors & McEnroe. What's gone wrong in recent years?

It's the same thing with weightlifting, you have better training programs and more people participating in other parts of the world.

Yeah, but only 1 American in the top 20 (Isner, who's 19th) is unheard of. Any names coming through the system?

There will never be another Sampras or Agassi. The world caught up and took over because tennis is a major sport in their countries , it's not really anymore in America.

Murray just beat djokovic and is looking like the best player in the world right now , I'm happy for him. I miss Nadal though.

not to mention Tennis is an expensive sport to invest an athlete in, you must start young and put in the money. It can be done for cheap, look at the williams sisters and some of the serbians, however they were heavily invested in their tiger parents doing all the little right things to keep them hungry, strong, and skilled in the sport.
