Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Still not into the sprite design. It makes them look like kids and just seems too small. These guys nailed Streets of Rage though so I'm sure it'll be good gameplay wise and I'll definitely grab it.

There's no excuse for a 30 year old arcade to look better than something from 2021. Detail and colors not withstanding.

Agreed but there might be a purpose to this. From a logical gameplay standpoint, large sprites with 4 players would be very cramped. You won't be able to squeeze a lot tactics or make the game super difficult if there is very little room to maneuver. From what I vaguely recall the arcade had a huge screen but not all PC will have widescreens.

Maybe the game will zoom in if all the turtles are close to one another?

I was seriously into Turtles growing up.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I just don't like the sprites. I like the old style, but the sprite work looks several steps below the arcade games

Beat me to it

I bought streets of rage 4 for my nephew. Hes got a Nintendo switch, of which i do not. I see its on steam but i dont know if i can cross over play.

We almost beat that fucker over Easter, so i question the challenge of this one.

Still, dizzys done right this time. I grew up loving TMNT and i never played streets of rage. If a game, that i never played can keep my interest, then surely this will.

His bday is coming up too. Thanks dizzy!

Did you beat it on Normal? If you want a challenge, try Mania.

Just looked that up. From Wikipedia:

“A kappa (河童, river-child)—also known as kawatarō (川太郎, "river-boy"), komahiki (駒引, horse-puller), kawatora (川虎, river-tiger) or suiko (水虎, water-tiger)–is an amphibious yōkai demon or imp found in traditional Japanese folklore. They are typically depicted as green, human-like beings with webbed hands and feet and a turtle-like carapace on their backs. A depression on its head, called its "dish" (sara), retains water, and if this is damaged or its liquid is lost (either through spilling or drying up), the kappa is severely weakened.

The kappa are known to favor cucumbers and love to engage in sumo wrestling. They are often accused of assaulting humans in water and removing a mythical organ called the shirikodama from their victim's anus.”

In the garbage movie Turtles in Time, when the Bros went to feudal Japan they were called Kappa.

The turtles might look a bit small, but they said they're basing the design off of the old '87 cartoon. And they were tiny in that. I'd say they did a good job on the size and proportions.

The turtles in the comics were like 5 foot. So they arent meant to be big. Even in the original 1990s movies, donatello was played by ernie reyes jr, who is 5.4 and fwiw donnie and raph are the tallest turtles, for scale reference.

if i had alzheimer's, i'd have no idea what decade it was based on video game trends.

and props to tmnt for milking the hell out of one issue of a comic (shredder died in the first issue)... for like 4 decades now.

I just wish they would have a more violent story line, like they were originally. They were fuckin savages

Have you checked out the Last Ronin yet? Excellent and the best selling graphic novel in ages. Well deserved. I'd love a movie adaptation.

For those that haven't followed it, here's a good recap. Careful with the next video because there's spoilers in the subject.

wtf?

i'm so confused. kevin sold his stake like forever ago, peter sold the IP entirely to viacom... and they hadn't done shit since mirage, like 30 years ago.

maybe i'll check it out, though. thanks, i had no idea (obviously).

2012 comic series is great, still ongoing as far as i can tell. Last ronin picks up from it, im uncertain if its a dream, alternate timelime or the beginning of the end (i havent finished it yet), but its pretty rad so far.

Me and 3 buddies beat the arcade game years ago. It was great because it was the only game at the arcade That was 4 players besides Gauntlet.
