First of all lets start off with the definition..

Tachypsychia: is a neurological condition that alters the perception of time, usually induced by physical exertion, drug use, or a traumatic event. It is sometimes referred to by martial arts instructors and self-defense experts as the Tachy Psyche effect. For someone affected by tachypsychia, time perceived by the individual either lengthens, making events appear to slow down, or contracts, objects appearing as moving in a speeding blur. It is believed that tachypsychia is induced by a combination of high levels of dopamine and norepinephrine, usually during periods of great physical stress and/or in violent confrontation

Has anyone of you experienced this feeling when you are about to get into a fight on the streets or something? I got in a couple of fights back in the day before i started training and i got this bad.. it made it so i couldnt fight as good and my reaction time was slow and everything felt weird. i didnt like it one bit. I havent gotten into any confrontations recently but i figured staying calm as can be will definitely help. fighting calm beats fighting like that in my opinion. What are your guy's opinions on this? How do you deal with it? Tell me some stories! Thanks!

I am the polar opposite and things slow down for me when the adrenaline starts to flowing. Whether I am rolling on the mat in bjj or fighting in a cage I tend to be a step ahead usually.

Same here. Adrenalin gives me the slow time effect and improves focus and reaction time.

well that could be the case with me now but im not entirely sure since i havent actually had a physical altercation since i have had BJJ training

Not sure who would regard it as a 'neurological condition'. Seems like a normal part of the fight or flight response.
