A couple of years ago here there was an oft repeated sentiment of Strickland habing a fighting style thay didnt match hos polarizing uhm, persona.

Ill admit i bit. I accepted that take while giving it no critical thought. According to fans of the sport he should have been fighting like Jorge Gurgel circa 2008 but indeed he was more similar to Jorge Gurgel circa 2026, using his bilingual skills to translate like a PUSSY

But over the years, and especially tonifht, i realize how much I appreciate his style. Not just as a fan of his athletic career but as a fan of all things understated. Be it in martial arts or anything. Any time a performer is capable of a multitude of skills yet only gives the viewer quick looks or none at all.

Literally mid sentence while im writing this Strickland TKO's the VERY impressive fluffy (who has the best MW PERFORMANCE in the past 5 years with the Cavemen Doldeezyk beat down) Bet. He goes full Gurgel and forgets about form and strategy for a second, plants his feet and almost gets clocked for it to, fulling leaning in to the George Gurgel reference. Then gives a genuinely sweet post fight interview that almost had me in tears. Cant wait for Imavov vs Chimeav! *makes a 3 second fart noise*

One fight doesn't make Strickland a finisher. MW is kind of strange. No one there is on Khamzat's level right now.

Sean is a POS. But all the talk about him being bad is totally bs. He lives in the gym and is always sparing all the time. Fighting is his second nature at this point. He is pretty technical to an extent for a mma guy. Not the most technical, but more so than most MW. Unless you are very technical AND have lots of power, you probably aren’t winning a stand up fight with him. He has cardio for days too which causes issues on top of it.

He can neutralize just about all styles. Sometimes he is hard ton watch but at times he delivers good fights

Sean’s a tool who loves to be controversial … and we love him for that

He absolutely is a gym rat who spars non stop and can be a problem for anyone in a fist fight … very tough knucklehead

These threads are on point. I was gonna a make a "Can Sean Strickland beat prime Ngannou?" but apparently thats already been done.

Yes, he is damn good at that. DDP (sadly) figured his style out.
Strickland is good at pressuring, but slow in his otherwise good footwork at it. Because he puts up his front foot a lot. And has a lot of weight on the back foot.

Therefore DDP fought on the outside at kicking range. Kicking Sean a lot. When Sean closed the range. He threw a combination to get out there.
And then repeated throwing kicks from the outside.
That way he got ahead on the scorecards and damage wise. Sean then has to fight more risky, which opens opportunities.

Tonights fight against Fluffy showed the usual sherdog: " yalla dalla the fighter with the longer winning streak wins bla blub"
Because 95% on here never trained and 99% know nothing about technique.
