Maybe it is the fear of success? I can't believe his fight IQ is this low. So many opportunities for takedowns with those wild swings and kicks. So many opportunities to unleash combinations. But Strickland plods on predictably and methodically like it is a 10 round fight. For whatever reason Strickland doesn't seem to want the belt.

Dude DDP is a monster. He's a crazy difficult fight and he made great adjustments from their first scrap. I don't think takedowns against him are easy either, he's very strong and explosive. When a guy loses to an elite fighter it's not a matter of not wanting it. The reality is DDP is an athletic freak, it's been proven in all his fights. Strickland fought hard against a guy with elite finishing ability, he can't be reckless. Strickland isn't going to win a grappling match against him, he's simply not as physically strong.

Luke Chitto Vera and the Diaz bros, he takes comfort in not being finishef
I dont think he was comfortable. He was clearly frustrated in the corner.

I think it just comes down to him being a total 1 trick pony.

He has no backup plan. No ability to evolve his game when plan A doesn't work.

He's like a shitty videogamer who finds an exploit and spams it nonstop. Once someone figures him out, he's done.

guy doesn't want to work hard, just jab jab jab

Strickland hits where he sees openings - there are some of those but it's still a limited number so then getting more active would involve going beyond those openings and picking worse ones

no strickland can grapple and is strong enough. DDP could not keep him down. let''s see if Khamzat exposes Strickland further if he fights DDP>

Strickland was hoping fight would be the same as the first and the coin flip decision would go his way. He's never really mixed it up or taken risk. Wouldn't be surprised if Strickland puts a jab clinic on his next step down in competition.

I think Strickland is becoming the "what if" type of fighter

Sean didn't find the jabs with DDP switching stances and he just can't do a fucking thing when walking backwards

It's frustrating that he can't bring solutions to the problems that appears, he just do the same with zero urgency

It's funny because he looks like someone who knows a lot about the game, someone who can analyze what is going on when a fighter do this or that, or when a fighter is like this or that

Not even the "last 10 seconds" mythical fighter Strickland showed up

He just straight up needs therapy in general and people need to acknowledge that he's a one dimensional fighter. He is the stand up equivalent a crotch sniffing lay and pray merchant. He's got his stand up defense which manifests physically as fear, a jab, a teep kick, no right hand, no wrestling or ground game and it's not that he has no concept of urgency, he flat out doesn't have a modern rounded MMA skillset to capitalize on anything.

If he wasn't playing up the Colby pandering to the base shtick outside the cage he wouldn't even be relevant anymore.
