So, my is leaving for Thailand this summer to visit family, so I decided to give her a shopping list while she's there. Yes, I do know that there is another Top King vs. Boon thread, but I want to know what gloves would be better for sparring only. What I'm looking for is a glove that has better ergonomics/fit, and more importantly, something easier on my sparring partners. I am going to buy these in laces btw.

I've use Fairtex, Twins and Top King. By far the best is Top King. I love the fit of the glove compared to Fairtex, which I've been using for a little under two years. I switched over to try Top King and I love them.

For sparring, especially if you are doing MT sparring, TK are much better. They have more padding on the back of the wrist compared to Boon(from what I've seen at my local gym) and from Fairtex(from my own personal use. The wirst support is also much better. Inside of the glove is very snug, but not too tight if you want to use wraps, which I always use.
I'd recommend TK. They are harder to get in the US, especially since most dealers are in Thailand(except for a few, including the site I bought out of) and they are harder to deal with.

I actually recently bought my Top King gloves from a US dealer that has in stock in the US, as opposed to most other sites that have their stuff in Thailand, which is harder to get. I bought off themmagarage.com. Its a smaller site but their service was awesome. I had emailed the guy for questions regarding other stuff and he mentioned he had Top King in stock, but not on the site yet. I was able to convince him to let a pair go before the went up on the site. Great price as well. Maybe he'll do the same for you? lol
I was just about to post a thread on the recent stuff I bought off them.

I have not used Top King, but I have Fairtex, Twins, and Boon.

My Boons are the brown ones (which I bought from MMAHQ) and are by far my favorite Thai sparring gloves. They fit great and are ridiculously soft. The only sparring gloves I own which are "easier" on sparring partners are probably my Ringside IMF gloves.

I have the 16oz boons, which i think are awesome, guys at my gym have the top king, which i have tried one and used for a few rounds.
The top kings are a great glove but are very big, the have a good hand compartment and are very comfortable, but can feel like your puching with pillows on your hands.

The boons are a good all round glove with great wrist support (velcro ) good tight hand compartment and forgiving on your sparring partner.
i have the red/white ones, which again look great.

The top kings are a great glove too and im sure you wouldnt be disappointed with either.

Hope that helps alittle

I've been considering the same thing. From what I've read the hand compartments on the TKs are on the large side while the Boons are on the small side. They both sound great, so I let that be the deciding factor. Think I'm gonna go with Boons as I have smaller hands.

you really can't go wrong with either one of those two gloves, I use both, and my favorite ones for sparring are the boons, I love the snug hand compartment and the wrist support.
the padding feels just right for me, not as soft and pillowy as Twins, but not hard either.

I use both top king and boon for sparring and they are equally good, the top kings are a bit harder though... Lace up is the way to go: more feel and control and they aren't as impractical as people think.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to go with the lace-up Boons...in BROWN of course:icon_chee
