Someone explain me the meaning of "Red panty night" and "Snake in the grass"

So I'm a foreigner whos first language isn't English and I need some explanation. Of course I know TJ's and Uriah's situation but..red pantys? what interests me is where those phrases originally come from? Or McGegor made them up himself? Just checked urban dictionary but nothing there.

pretty sure everyone knows what a snake in the grass means just because snakes are associated with traitors because of the imagery of a snake in the garden of eden. at least that's what always comes to my mind

basically, friday night knickers are the special lacy posh knickers a girl wears out on a friday night when she thinks she might pull. The rest of the week she just wears the plain old cotton hip huggers that have been washed 100 times and lost their colour.
