So what happens to "Let's get ready to rumble" when Buffer is gone?

Just curious. Buffer is widely know as the voice of boxing, the man who brings vegas to your living room. Let's get ready to rumble is the most notable line any announcer has ever made. If Buffer retires, or regretfully dies, does the line go with him? It would seem like a terrible waste.

Everybody loves him

Who would replace him and would it be the same?
Do you think David Diamante fits the part?

Since it's trademarked and he's made hundreds of millions licensing it out, use of the phrase would probably still be a trademark issue and license fees would go to his estate.

I'd assume this. Do any other announcers ever use it? Is it ever licensed out to them?

Yeah...

Imagine with Lenne Hardt did boxing...

Monnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeey... May!!!!!!!!!!! weatherrrrrrrrr ahhhhhhhhhh (yeah that and her singing).

Not a hater, I love her annoucing talents

You can just get a guy to legally change his name to "Lets get ready to Rumbllllllee!"

Then make him stand in the middle of the ring before every fight and get an announcer to introduce his name before he introduces the fighters names

It'll be replaced by "JUST BLEEEEEED!!!!!!!"

lol, j/k. On a serious note, I think CreepingTom is right with the whole licensing issue. They'll probably have to pay the trademark holder a fee or something....

Nah, the line will go with him. Fuck any other announcer trying to use it too. There is nothing like hearing Buffer throw that line out there to get the excitement going. Watching a live fight will never be as exciting again once he's retired. True story.

I really like Jimmy Lennon Jr. but im assuming hes around the same age as MB

Having net issues so couldn't watch the video and I've only seen Diamante do a couple of fights and they were a while ago so I'm well out of touch. But, based on what I saw then, there was no way he was going to take over from Buffer.

I hope he's improved a lot, because I do a better job in Phnom Penh than he did then. And there's no way I'm even looking at Michael Buffer's league from the cheap seats.

Buffer's the best, Classy Jimmy Lennon jr is number 2. The rest aren't much better than each other and don't come close, including the other Buffer.
