I'm sympathetic to Russian athletes, any public political statements contrary to the regime can result in serious consequences.
Unlike the democratic governments of the United States, Canada, China and Australia.

Or the virtual democratic governments of Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.

I think he has a complicated view on Ukraine / Russia relations so he chose not to represent either flag as to not take a side.

Its not complicated. He sees himself as being from a "country" that isn't recognized by anyone other than Russia

Most satisfying Sub i seen in 2022. I can't think of a fighter i felt so good to see loose since Greg Hardy.
I secretly project this loss and Drago loss to Putin. Made my night to be honest.

It was Krylov's choice. He was born in Ukraine but lives and trains in Russia.

Kind of fucked up to be outing him like this for a bit of internet gossip. Who knows how he may or may not feel right now

basically this.
He did the smart thing, he really did. Tricky situation to be honest and for HIM he did the right thing.

I bet some lunatics will try and shame him now for
wanting to stay out of politics and just do his sport

He doesnt fly the Ukrainian flag because hes an active supporter of the LPR (Luhansk Peoples Republic) one of the breakaway states in Ukraine.

It's so irratating how all these normie shills just pretend that Ukraine hasn't been at war since 2014. The main point of the war is giving these places autonomy and it's nice to see someone from one of them show that these people are real and not just a Putin talking point.

Pretty big difference IMO between the low-level fighting that's been going on in the Donbas for the past 8 years and a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine aimed at taking Kyiv.

Disagree that helping out the separatists in the Donbas is "the main point" of the war.

Well that's Russia's territorial goal they want accomplished. That'd be the main feature of any negotiated settlement following a Russian settlement. So while the reason they are pushing the issue is fear of Nato forever taking those regions off the table it's clearly the main point. While there's a chance Russia uses the war as a chance to take more territory they are not annexing Western Ukraine where the population is overwhelmingly hostile. That was never going to happen.

I dont agree with his choices. Hes a rat and a traitor to his countrymen. But the breakaway republics were just a pretext for Russia to invade, and Crimia was annex like 6 months after they discovered vast oil reserves in its coastal shelf on the black sea
