Sit Out Merchants to be released for inactivity

Good. They can start by getting rid of conor and Jon Jones. That way all the dumb rumors and imaginary stories of them fighting in the ufc again can go away

Odd timing for such an announcement ... what with just having announced a series of headliners and title shots and none of them fought more than once in the last year

Gaethje fought 1x 2025
Paddy 1x
Volk 1x

They just booked Nunes in a title fight off a 2.5 year layoff.

Typical UFC hypocrisy to have spent the last 10+ year rewarding this exact behavior and then act like they are "gonna do something" (which we all know will be selectively enforced at best )

this is the same org which left Tom Aspinall on the sidelines for 500+ days with an interim belt so they could book Stipe off 3 year layoff to fight Jones off a 2 year layoff... right?

Edit: mma centel - sit out merchant's are safe.
That makes more sense.

The point here is to intimidate fighters who decline specific dates. Anyone who offers value - in their perception - being under contract will continue to be under contract, even if they sit out for years or openly say they would like out.

UFC brass is notorious for threatening and mistreating fighters who don't agree to fight on short notice, when injured or otherwise unprepared. The entire setup is "do what we say when we say it, or else."

I'll believe it when I see it. Even if its true there is a zero percent chance that includes anybody ranked so it'll just be the same as every other month when the recap the retirees and cuts.

No point employing guys who don't work.

People still getting Centeled in 2025.
The UFC would never do this because it would allow popular fighters to get out their contracts just by sitting out and look for better options elsewhere, which the UFC would never allow.
