Show is about how ppl can b controlled thru pysops, compartmentalization, propaganda etc. Usually super picky about shows and this 1 great and doesnt seem to have a lot of attention surrounding it. Jusst found out about it yesterday.

Excited for season 2. Really enjoyed the books, and season 1 only got about half way through the first book. They'll have to shake up how they do book 2 on the show since it would derail the pace and I think viewers would lose interest.

its basically Snowpiercer but the train is standing up and not moving.
ah really, never saw. dont really like korean movies despite living in s. korea

S2 premiere is Nov 15. May be time to subscribe to Apple TV+ again.

It's better than average. Strong ending to the first season defying (most) expectations the way it did.

I was positive we had a big thread going discussing the first season, but I can't find it, so maybe it got lost in a server maintenance shuffle. Book series discussed here:

Anyone else read the Silo series by Hugh Howey?

TV series mentioned in this old Apple TV thread:

Whats good on Apple TV ?

slow 2nd season premier but still solid watch

I've had this on my watch list for a bit. I do'nt have appletv (have netflix, prime, max, disney) but I'm not sure it's worth getting appletv just for a month just for this show. I guess i could watch season 3 of Ted LAsso, I did like the first 2 somewhat.

I gotta finish up yellowjackets S2 first though.

Severance is also on appletv. If you haven't seen that then it's worth signing up for just that show alone. Then again Severance season 2 is in January so maybe just go ahead and wait a bit longer and you can binge watch both shows.

Even if you don't have Apple TV+, they let you watch the first episode in entirety free... for some shows at least.

half decent analysis1st half of show, guy a bit scatter-brained tho

first two eps from S1 are great, then the rest sucks, S2 ep1 sucked, they just drag it on forever and use too much dark setting CGI scenes

The idea and setting are good, but got too much "modern audience" shit for me (not a single competent male, woman lead strong-arming everyone, etc, and all of it poorly ececuted) I dropped it mid-season.

You're seeing things where there aren't. It is basically following the books.

I see things how I see them. I disliked the way they were telling the story and/or showing the characters. It was for me more about "how" than about "what" is being shown.

Some of the stuff I remember:

Main protagonist is first seen closing a valve and calling everyone else idiots while flexing her muscles. Yeah I get it she's a tough girl but that is 80's B-movie level cringe.
All the important, knowledgeable and wise characters are female.
The main protagonist and another black woman explaining what is a generator turbine to the facility's director and their direct boss (the only white male in the room whose name we know) is simply idiotic. Also he is there effectively only to hinder the protagonist. To me, it reeks of agenda-driven writing.

Is it really too much? I think for the average viewer it's ok.
I am not trying to spoil the fun for anyone enjoying the show, but it seems I personally got an overdose of cringe agenda movies and series so I decided not to add to it, even though Silo itself is not the source of the problem and is far from the worst series from the last couple of years.
