Thanks guys!
A few things:
1) This video is so short because we shot it for my Uke whom I was giving private lessons to to be able to see the sequence and the key points.
2) The hardest part of the whole thing is breaking his frame from my neck and actually pinning his arm to the mat. This is where using my pointy ass chin comes in- once I scoop his head up onto my knee, I turn my head towards his feet, and DIG the point of my chin as hard as I can into the soft bit where his elbow and bicep meet. This is really painful, and I use my neck stength to pin his arm down while feeding his wrist to my hand for the keylock.
And overall, blocking with the head in all the transitions is so huge, especially when he straightens from the keylock to straigh armlock- I'm literally pinning his arm in place with my forehead and keeping his elbow in the crook of my own elbow.
3) As for stepping over the head to finish the Kimura, as dmwalking said, yes it's good for setting up a triangle.
But, I can also finish the Kimura without switching my hips or stepping over, so long as his head is still scooped up off the mat and is resting on my knee/guad.
This head scoop is so key, it makes all the difference in the world with both the keylock and kimura.
Or, I can leave him totally flat, keep the figure four grip, and walk to north-south, where I can set him up for this:
Have fun!
