The grind of running in the morning, working in the day and training boxing at night is wearing on me. Assuming my diet is in order and I'm sleeping 7/8 hours per night, what else can I take for general recovery to help with the overall wear-and-tear? Right now I'm on protein shakes, fish oil pills, men's 1 a day multivitamins.

I'm interested in "Shroom Tech" by Onnit. Anyone have an opinion?

I dont think Shroom tech is all that, its a cordicep suppliment. Those have been around for awhile in the cycling community. I personally never really noticed a difference and I used to take a lot of them when I was a cyclist because our team was sponsored by a company that made a suppliment with them.

Here in China, Tibetan winter worm is everywhere, people pay quite a bit of $$$ for it but I havn't found anyhting that makes me want t pay for them.

Apart from that, LCLT is a fairly potent recovery supp.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about recovery supplements on this forum...

If you are going to buy cordyceps, I would probably recommend Cordgygen5 by Millenium over Shroomtech. Its been much more proven and around longer.

I love it and im not sure if its placebo or not, but it gives me a ton of energy and cardio for days. Noticeably. Its an adaptogen so im sure it will help with recovery, but imo its more about performance than anything. I definitely recommend trying it and seeing if it works for you. Shroomtech looks pretty solid in its other ingredients, but im not sure if the cordyceps itself will stand up to a product like Cordygen5. The methyl b12, ashwaganda, rhodiola, and green tea extracts are great products that I actually buy once in a while to take before bed. Its probably cheaper and more effective to just buy Cordygen5 and then get the adaptogens by itself though.

Recovery supps are things you take before bed to increase sleep quality and get vivid dreams. Nothing like a good nights rest to make it feel like you can workout every single day.

Sleep blends
ZMK
PowerFULL
Pro GH
TranQuilogen
Somnidren

Individual adaptogens/neurotransmitters
Ginger tea
Ashwagandha
Raw Cacao powder
Maca
L-theanine
L-phenylalanine
Alpha GPC
Acetyl-L-Carnitine
Rhodiola
Holy Basil
Stinging Nettle
GABA
Methyl B-12
Red Velvet Bean (L-dopa, careful with this one)
L-Arginine, Orthonine, and Citruline
Relora
5-HTP
Sam-e
Fadogia

etc.

I always opt for the natural roots/tea/grounded up powder over the extracted forms of pills/powders first. Stuff like Ginger tea, cacao powder, maca, holy basil tea over extracts in pill/powder form. But many of these ingredients only come in extracts and they work well too.

These are all of the things you are taking, or these are just different options?
Sounds like you have a lot of experience with this stuff. I didn't know a recovery supplement was something you take before bed. I had never considered taking something before bed before. I drink three cups of green tea a day, so I've got that at least. I'm a big fan of increasing my chance of vivid dreams though that sounds like fun.

@Kill Kill -- I'm on a protein just hoping to discuss more of the non-obvious stuff that might assist with my routine.

Legitimate question- What are you doing all the activity for?

There is a reason running every morning, working all day, then boxing every night is wearing you down. It's a fucking lot to go through.

Working out more does not necessarily make you more fit. There is a point of diminishing returns.

Unless you are training for a specific event, I would say lowering your activity level a little would do more for you than any supplement.

And if you are training for a specific event, I would say you need to find a way to rest more somehow. Whether that is working a little less until the competition or going to bed earlier.

Your body is talking to you. It is telling you to rest. Listen to it.

Haha hell no. Taking all those things at once would destroy your kidneys and wallet.
I usually take one sleep aid before bed and 1-2 adaptogens/neurotransmitters first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. And I cycle it through the list normally every 4-6 weeks.

I have tried most of these products and I suggest you taking one or two of these things from this list and just googling and doing some research to see if you would like to try it. These products usually are very high quality and can get expensive though. Most good products usually cost about $1 a day unless you buy in bulk.

With the stress of everyday life theres nothing like some deep quality sleep to have you wake up super energized. I dont need to take pre-workouts or coffee, but I do drink green tea like you. Matcha is supposedly the best kind, 8x as much antioxidents as normal green tea, and slightly more caffeine per cup. Probably about 40-60mg
