Hey crew,

Ive been putting up with pain in my right shoulder for 4 or so months now, waiting for it to go away... but no luck.
After a bit of home research on the movements and angles that cause pain the most probable place of the injury is the rotator cuff. I havent had an xray or mri done so Im not 100% sure.

Hav anyone here had the same injury?

If so what rehab exercises / stretches were you prescribed, how long did it take to heal (if ever), and did you have to have any time off rolling?

Also any recommendations on good websites with relevant information?

You need to go see a Doctor. No one on here can tell you the severity of the injury.

Yes I realise that no one can diagnose me over the internet. Im not after a diagnosis, just want to hear about other peoples experiences with a rotator cuff injury, the steps they followed to rehab it and how well it was rehabilitated.

Fucking ages. Everyone i know who rushed back have recurring problems and even some who have rehabbed it properly have had it go again. Shoulders are terrible injuries so make sure you get a proper diagnosis and rehab it to the letter. Good luck.

i actually tore my rotator cuff a couple years ago... it wasnt to severe and didnt require surgery thank god but its something you have to have looked at ASAP it could be something you carry with you for a long time...

im trying to remember how long mine stuck with me i wanna say 3-4 months before i stopped noticing it...

Shit takes forever, just as my right shoulder stopped hurting I managed to double-injure my left. Yay!

Did you guys keep rolling with it or stop training until you were pain free?

One of my training partners recently tore his rotator cuff, he's going to have surgery in a couple of weeks to repair it. He's not training right now, and if yours is actually torn then you shouldn't either.

You should stop rolling and get it diagnosed properly before you hurt it more, shoulder's are the most complex joint to rehab.

If it's just RTC tendinitis then you won't need surgery but you'll need 2-4 months of rehab.

If it's torn you'll most likely need surgery and the general guideline is 18 weeks of rehab after surgery, 6 weeks of passive range(you can't actively use the arm at all, will be in a sling), 6 weeks active(no extra weight), then 6 weeks of resistance to regain strength. Could be more or slightly less depending on severity.

I tore my RC. Got it from playing rugby. Rehab was 3 months consisting of deep tissue massage, ultrasound treatment and a shitload of stretches and resistance work. It's never been the same.
I make sure to always warm up my shoulder properly before hitting the mats (internal and external rotations) and I'll always tap to a kimura/americana. It's not worth re-injuring unless you're in a comp.

As stated above, go see a physio and get an MRI asap to see what exactly you're dealing with.

6 months no rolling.
1 year for full strenght.
I had RC surgery in December.

I tore my rotator cuff 5 years ago from a shoulder dislocation and ever since then, I've dislocated my shoulder about 15 or 16x. I went to therapy and did the exercises and iced it as well but nothing seemed to help since I kept disclocating it. I'd suggest you pretty much just keep icing it and see how it feels. Also test it out when you roll but tell your partner to go light. I have to warn all my partners to not attack my arm because my shoulder gets dislocated easily.

I tore my rotator cuff. I couldn't train for a long time.

Before that I went to a DR. He gave me great advice and now it's better. He didn't even know what sherdog was!
