It seems like with the recent Jones vs Reyes and Felder vs Hooker fights, there is a debate about winning the championship rounds. Let's put aside the debate of individual fights, because that doesn't matter. Let's have a hypothetical argument where we know for sure who won which rounds:
You have Fighter A who wins rounds 1-3 but gases out, and Fighter B digs deep to win rounds 4 and 5. Who should win the fight on the judges scorecards?
Based on the current scoring system, Fighter A wins 48-47, even though he technically would lose the fight if there was no time limit.
I would argue that it might make sense for the championship rounds to count double, with 10-9 becoming 20-18. That way if a fighter wins both championship rounds, he wins the fight. This would guarantee that a fighter must win at least one of the championship rounds to win a fight. I don't think that is unfair.
