Should championship rounds count more on scorecards?

It seems like with the recent Jones vs Reyes and Felder vs Hooker fights, there is a debate about winning the championship rounds. Let's put aside the debate of individual fights, because that doesn't matter. Let's have a hypothetical argument where we know for sure who won which rounds:

You have Fighter A who wins rounds 1-3 but gases out, and Fighter B digs deep to win rounds 4 and 5. Who should win the fight on the judges scorecards?

Based on the current scoring system, Fighter A wins 48-47, even though he technically would lose the fight if there was no time limit.

I would argue that it might make sense for the championship rounds to count double, with 10-9 becoming 20-18. That way if a fighter wins both championship rounds, he wins the fight. This would guarantee that a fighter must win at least one of the championship rounds to win a fight. I don't think that is unfair.

It's a sanctioned fight. It does have a time limit. All rounds should be scored the same.

Would you do the same thing in the NFL.
If team A scores 7 points in the 1st 3 quarters and is leading 21-0 if team B scores 14 in the final quarter then double them up and team B win 28-21.
No one would go for that as it'd be dumb.

A round is a round. It doesn't matter if it's round 1 or round 5 it's just a round.

It's confusing/complicating a system which doesn't need changing. The only problem with the current scoring system is shit judges. Making it more complicated won't help.

or the champion could start fighting in round 1 instead of 4.

If you change htis scoring, they'll just coast through the early rounds and save everything for 2 rounds.

You might as well just make it a 3 rounder instead.

rd1 has a 0x multiplier - just for friendly warm ups or intimidation posturing.
rd2 =1x
rd3 = 2x
rd4 = 3x
rd5 = 5x
for 11 total and 6 or over wins.
Wouln't be confusing at all, and way more fair.

no.
it's a fight, 5 rounds. There is no difference between round 1 and 5.

One of the most idiotic suggestions I have seen on here.

A round is a round in UFC scoring, all the same. I would probably keep it that way. Now with PRIDE rules, Jones would have been a clear cut winner. Felder's still could have gone either way.

No I don't. I do think they should attack whichever fighter is ahead on the official cards with a baseball bat just to spice things up...after the 3rd, but before the 4th, of course.

Nah, the UFC already has enough trouble keeping track of their rules and scores. You will also have the possibility of fighters being inactive for the first 3-4 rounds before trying anything.

All I know is they need to get rid of this stupid 5 mini fights within a fight point system which encourages “round winning takedowns at the bell!!!!1111”
