i sometimes get pain when i get the heavy bag when we are practicing roundkicks

Where do you get pain? And supports are not supposed to help protect you against pain in your shins when kicking things.Supports are designed to help keep the ankle warm,to help you not break the skin and to help prevent you rolling over the ankle.

Pain in your ankle?
If your hitting too low on your shin, in the ankle area, maybe you're too far from the bag?

hmm yeah when i was kicking it i think i was too far on one and kicked a little more with my ankle then my shin and sometimes im close to rolling my ankles on the mat so i guess ill just wear them anways thanks for the replies!

i have twins ankle supports do you guys think they will stretch after long periods of use?

Believe it or not pretty much all of the brands are the same. you can buy them at walmart for a couple bucks each

It's good to have during just training sessions. to prevent any injuries/rollling ankles

yup, they all the same

I wear them every time now because I roll my ankle often when I spar, but mostly because I have sweaty feet and they help me not slip

I think you did what I did a few weeks and kicked a little too low down on the leg and sprained your ankle. People are right in what they say here that ankle braces are just to support the ankle during training. However what is not totally correct is that they are all the same. You do actually have two different types which are the budget ones and premium ones. Both of which vary in the support they offer. There are also ankle supports that have padding now, which protects your instep a little against those accidental kicks to the elbow or knee.

I sprained my ankle one time and used nationman anklets and it seems to give my ankle more support so i've been using them ever since.

To each his own but I prefer to stay away from supports if I can- knee, ankle, or whatever.
I think it's important to have strong stabilizer muscles and I believe the over use of supports leads them to be weaker.

Will cause your muscles to become weaker like they would if you just sat around doing nothing. All ankle supports do is keep your ankle warm which helps to prevent sprains. I still have rolled my ankle once while wearing an ankle support.

Also on knee sleeves I know more guys that wear them to prevent mat burn from shooting double legs than from trying to somehow support their knee.

This analogy probably sucks but do you worry that wearing handwraps will weaken your wrist and the bones in your hand from getting stronger/tougher? Because, based on this bit in your post:
I believe the over use of supports leads them to be weaker.
Do you believe that no handwraps or gloves are needed for bag work? Must be a bareknuckle boxer then ala Mickey from Snatch.

Like you said to each their own but I doubt a stretchy/elastic cloth thing will cause your ankle stabilizer muscles or your knee to get weaker. Especially considering the main reason for knee pads/sleeves is to prevent mat burn, at least in my experience.

This is wrong on so many levels. There is a reason Professional Athletes are taped, and seen wearing braces. Injuries are a part of any sport and its up to you to protect your self and stop them from reoccurring. Cant count how many times my ankle braces have saved me a trip to the hospital while playing basketball.
