Who's the bigger legend of the sport, Shogun or Wanderlei?

Wanderlei at his peak was such a killer and an unstoppable force. From 2000-2004, he had a 16 fight winning streak. The brutal headkick from CroCop essentially ended everything for him.

Shogun survived Pride and went on to win UFC gold and Wanderlei.....well he was mostly just nuts. Wanderlei was one of the baddest motherfuckers at 205 but his losses near the end of Pride and in his return to the UFC pretty much ended his chances at fighting for the title and becoming one of the all time greats.

Not really, look back at his actual defenses. Won in '01, defended five times until losing it in '07.

Wandy is the bigger legend, but Shogun accomplished more and was the more talented fighter.

I'd have to disagree with saying Shogun accomplished more. He did do better in UFC but I'd argue Pride at the time had a much more stacked list of fighters that Wanderlei beat. He fucked the end of his career but that doesn't take anything away from the devastating run he accomplished in Pride. Shogun didn't come near to that. Shogun was the more talented fighter though.

Edit because man I just realised I've been on this site for almost 10 years! I still miss Pride.

this was the beginning of wandy´s decline:

I think you can start to see some signs of decline post Hunt but also I think you need to consider who he was fighting, Yoshisa, Nak and Arona were all looking to hold him down rather than trade with him whilst he was still good enough to be the first man to finish Fujita with strikes pre Crocop.
