Serious question. I just got some shock doctor compression shorts with built in cup off ebay. Do you usually wear underwear underneath them? I felt a little bunch up with boxer briefs under them but too free without.

No underwear.

The shock doctor compression shorts with the built in cup is a terrible product. The cup shifts and floats above, leaving you wide open for ball pinches, etc.

What works really good is using a shockdoctor cup on your bare nards with the compression short overtop of it.

I have no problems with mine and I wear a size medium. In fact, I have worn these for 2 years for BJJ and MT. The trick is to really shove the cup into the pocket. Personally, I think these are the best shorts on the market.

I have three different pairs of compression shorts from Shockdoctor.

I bought the standard pair a couple of years ago, and did have some trouble with the cup slipping around. I always wear briefs under though.

I then bought the Double compression shorts, and still used the regular cup. Had less trouble and was satisfied.

Then a couple of months ago I bought the ultra compression shorts with the bioflex cup. It was a little different. Kind of like a jock inside of compression shorts. It worked the best, but due to the bioflex cup, I can use all the other shorts without issues.

ive read that cup pocket design on the SD compression shorts is terrible, for the reason mentioned about. ive wanted to get a pair and throw in a Thai steel cup but not at the expense of getting a ball pinched because the pocket was sewn on the outside and not inside of the shorts.

The pocket isn't really sewn on the outside, the problem is the pocket material is two thick and tight and the cup floats above your **** and balls instead of nicely around it. I have a pair of the Diamond ones, they are the best I've seen so far but it is more of a jock within a compression short.

On the topic of groin protection. I have a Muay Thai smoker coming up. When competing I usually just wear the diamond shorts under board shorts. I am suppose to wear thai shorts for this thing and well the compression shorts stick out. I was looking for something else to wear. I have heard mixed stories on the metal cups, etc.

What would you recommend? What do you use?
