Belal:
  • 9 fight win streak
  • Defeated 3 top 5 opponents (Wonderboy, Luque, Burns)
  • Fought below in the rankings off a win and beat an undefeated fighter
  • Always been active
  • Found a way to neutralize every opponent
But Sherdog is still crying about him being an 'average' and 'boring' fighter.

On second thoughts, being on a 9 fight win streak and beating top 3 opponents is nothing special. And why is he smart with his game planning? Why doesn't he just go out there and play to his opponents' strengths? Why does he minimize damage and not mindlessly brawl like Chandler and Gaethje?

You don't have to like the guy but holy shit this place feels like reddit with all the circle jerking and recycled belal hate. If you're still denying him at this stage then you're just another hater. Plain n simple.

Haters will be seeing a lot more Belal now that he got his title shot secured. Enjoy.

He definitely deserves the next title fight, but I can't say I'm a fan of his but I do respect his accomplishments.

His personality rubs me the wrong way at times and his fights while impressive from a gameplanning standpoint aren't the easiest to endure.

He has well and truly earned a title fight though and when it happens I will be rooting for Leon Edwards all the way. I think Leon beats him fairly routinely too.

It's not weird. Its easy to understand.

I dont hate him at all,and wish him all the luck, but I understand totally why fans dont warm up to him.

1) He is a dork,he doesnt come off as a guy who has ever fought in his life in interviews. If you just saw a photo of him in a fight he looks like a peak arab warrior, but he comes off as a nerd with not a whole lot of charisma

2) His fighting style is very meat and potatoes. He's good enough to win without risking much. It may not please the crowd, but he's quite effective, and efficient with his offense.

That being said,I still like him,and if he won the title,i'd be happy for him,cos he would have succeeded in spite of himself.

Good fighter but he just doesn’t have the “it” factor that makes people love you. It is what it is. He’s very good maybe even great he’s just not compelling at all to most people

You nailed it

I was turning the corner with his fight with Brady. I felt he was coming into his own

Then he gets to "save" 288. He puts on a sparring session with a clearly injured Burns. Belal was winning every point of the fight and he FUCKING COASTED

No. All the bad hype is true. He's solid but he's a cancer to entertainment. People pay $80 for this shit. Fuck him

He’s had 18 UFC fights and has 3 finishes. He’s had a few split and many underwhelming decisions. Throw in his personality and you’re probably not going to have the formula for a strong fan following.

Irrational hate at its finest.

Why do people always cry and put the blame on Belal for being boring and never his opponents? Same shit used to happen with Izzy and Khabib. Makes more sense to blame the opponents for falling into Belal's gameplan and not doing shit to effectively counter it.

He's treated like comic relief even though he's on a huge win streak, reminds me of how Leon got treated too.
The thing is Leon really dont got no personality...it was great to see his emotion and confidence when he won,yes...but hes rather dull overall.

Belal is CORNY,he does have a personality, but hes a goofball. The stuff with the sunglasses and shit. He is still a character. At least the dude fuckin tries lol

He just edged out a guy with one arm in a close fight and at no point looked close to finishing it.
Sure it was a good win, but he didn't really do much as usual.

His 5 fans they kept showing at the event are the only people that want to see him there.
The guy hasn't put on an exciting fight in a single one of his wins.

Indeed.

In interviews, Belal comes across like someone who’s never laughed at a joke in his life, he just want to kill whoever made joke. I don’t think it’s intentional, he can’t help it.

Khabib presented similarly, even more dry.. but he was so fucking dominant that he commanded respect.

I think he's still more exciting than that. He stays on the feet. The risk is always there for you to get at him,but he still manages to win anyway, which is more impressive then Fitch pillow punching guys who cant get up.
People who think guys like Belal are boring today are lucky they either never experienced or don't remember Jon Fitch fights.

Sit in closed guard, head on chest, throwing pitter patter arm punches to the ribs for the full 15 minutes. Every single fight.
