With Khamzat not taking fights, his popularity has dwindled just a bit and I think Shavkat is the one who can beat him and create his own bandwagon. I think Shavkat is the uncrowned champion and he will stick to his weight class.

Who you think wins this? Someone's 0 must go.

Only reason to do it is when one of them is champion. You dont put these forces of nature against each other, unless its for all the marbles. They are both murderous killers, and you'd be dumb to have them take each other out until the rest of the division are corpses.

Khamzat really shouldn't get a #1 contender fight after missing weight by 9lbs then going inactive. I'd probably take Shavkat if it happens, but expect him to be a fairly big underdog.

nOt TaKiNg FiGhTs
As if people are jumping head over heels to fight him.
Seems somewhat likely that he'll fight in Abu Dhabi by the looks of it.

Khamzat by sub if the fight were to happen but I'm pretty positive it won't

Shavkat is the "uncrowned champion" with zero top 5 wins? What an absurd statement.

In any event, it seems obvious that they're saving Khamzat for the Abu Dhabi card. And probably a fight at 185, so this thread is moot.

It will be one of those fights that just never happens for one reason or another

This fight will never happen. Both camps are rather cautious. I don't think Khamzat is entertaining fights unless it is for a title shot.

One of them needs to fight Usman next. They're not going to match up two future potential PPV stars already.

it will happen in 2035 when they are both washed up... IF somehow they haven't retired within the next 3 years given how former eastern bloc fighters seem to retire early af

It's not that absurd if you base it on his skillset. I'm not saying I agree, but I don't think that it's totally insane to think that way. Many people thought it was inevitable that Khabib would be champ based solely on his grappling skills even before he had any top wins. People said the same thing about Islam.

Shav is closer to the title than the other dude who rarely fights and who screwed up massively on the scales the last time out

Saying someone is "the uncrowned champion" isn't the same thing as saying you think someone will become champion. These are very different propositions. I'm high on Shavkat and think he has the potential to be champion, but calling him "the uncrowned champion" with zero high-end wins makes no sense. That term is generally used for guys who have proven themselves to be the best but haven't been given the title opportunity yet. Shavkat is far from proving he's the best; his best win is Geoff Neal, who's arguably not even a top 10 WW.

Their career paths, despite both being undefeated, and general temperaments are like night an day. Makes for an awesome eventual fight.

Wait.......
Sorry, I mean "WEIGHT", can Khmazat actually make it anymore??
