Series S emulation.

Is it a free program?
Yes. All of the nodes you can install to run various systems are free, too. There might be a few that cost money, but there's a great free option for every system.

Dev mode costs 2O dollars but the actual programs seem to be free.

Edit: Google 'Retroarch' for the front end to the emulators.

Don’t care enough for next gene right now as I’m still enjoying my switch and 3ds but man that’s really cool. Good on you x box.

Are these new consoles worth it?(the actual price not the double scalper price lol)

It's winning the backwards compatibility war on every possible front.
  • XB1 gen games have already exhibited far fewer issues on the XSX than PS4 games have on PS5 (both are afforded 100% compatibility on paper).
  • X360 support exists on XSX for 525 titles. PS3 doesn't on PS5.
  • Xbox support exists on XSX for 39 titles. PS2 obviously has none.
  • All Xbox One accessories function on the XSX (i.e. controllers, headsets, etc).
  • Thanks to the tooling system developers have said it's very easy to offer performance boosts to backwards compatible titles that otherwise aren't being updated/optimized on the newer platforms with simple patches (ex. 120Hz framerate modes); doing the same would require drastic overhaul on the PS5, so they're not patching them
  • Now it offers Retroarch emulation without hacking or fear of penalties. Sideload greenlight. Every game system in existence from the fifth console generation and earlier (N64, PS1, Saturn, Jaguar, etc.) has perfect "cycle accurate" emulation engines carrying a Libreto core that are useable via Retroarch. That includes 80's and 90's Arcade emulation. Some later game systems already do, too, like the Wii. Only a few consoles like the original Xbox have notorious emulation issues. The PS2 is still being ironed out.
How to turn your Xbox Series X/S into an emulation powerhouse

The great irony here is that Xbox gamers are already able to play more of Playstation's pre-PS4 historic library on the Xboxes (for free) than they can on the PS5 at any cost.

Anyone here use an Xbox Series S as an emulator? I'm very impressed by what I saw in the video below. At $300, it sounds very appealing.

I forgot about the ability to put retro arch on the Series consoles. I’ll have to look into this for my X. I wouldn’t mind playing Max Payne 2.
