That was one of the toughest fights to predict what scoring would be I've seen in a while.

I had Rose in Round 1, despite the takedown, but I noticed most of the Tweets they showed had others scoring it the other way. I thought 2-3 were Zhang's, easily. So I was afraid for Rose because I thought she couldn't win without a finish, or at least draw with a 10-8.

Let's see what Sherdog thought.

Zhang 1, 2, 3.

Rose 4 and 5

First 3 were close and it was a perfectly cromulent decision, especially since Rose clearly won 4 and 5. Zhang fucked up by going for the choke and not protecting her position in the 4th.

Even if people had Weili up 3 rounds, the reason that Judge had it 49-46 is because Rose literally controlled Weili on the ground of the 5th and final round with 3+ minutes of control time. Damage doesn't matter to judges if you're neutralizing your opponent. I don't agree with this line of thinking, but let's not pretend Usman didn't get a lopsided judging score in the first Masvidal fight doing the SAME thing except against the cage.

Whether you're on your back, or pinned against the cage you're losing in the eyes of the Judges. High time some of ya'll accept it. Rose pulled away with a proven veteran tactic in landing a Takedown and winning despite NOT DOING SHIT with it. We've seen this how many times ya'll?

I thought Rose only won the last two rounds but the first 3 were close enough that likely two of the judges gave Rose one of those rounds and there you go. I think if they fight again Rose should initiate the grappling more she seemed to get the better of it in the scrambles more often than not.

My problem is, pretty much all fights that are close, takedowns seal the round

You HAVE to be consistent here, she got a takedown, it wins the round

R1 Weili
R2 Rose
R3 Weili clearly
R4 Rose clearly
R5 Rose clearly

I predicted a split decision before it was announced and was right.

Care to explain to me why round 4 is clear

Just because she was in guard in the last 2 minutes? Even though Welli was up in strikes, had a takedown, and back control

Rose got no takedown that round

I'm assuming they thought forward pressure negated the TD.

I thought it was tough to score, but I missed round 3 when my totally legit stream went down for a bit.

I'll rewatch round 1 as most seem to have had it for Rose and maybe I was affected by the commentary.

If Weili won the first 3 rounds, how does Rose taking her down and laying and praying for the last round win her anymore than the 5th round?

R1: Weili but it was really close
R2: Rose but it was really close
R3: Weili
R4: Rose
R5: Rose (dominantly)

Probably the most accurate count here. It's those early rounds that could go either way where the fight was really decided, and why Zhang could have won and I wouldn't have been mad about the decision.

It's a close fight with multiple rounds that could be judged differently, depending on how you prioritize different aspects of the fight game.
