Savate boxer with his reinforced shoes and gloves, all his techniques allowed, even sweeps.

Thai boxer with gloves and all his techniques allowed (even the clinch but only 3 seconds).

Knowing that Savate has far better evasive footwork and conditioning. But the thai has elbows and knees (which savate doesn't have).

Also an old "snap kick vs thai kick" question. but this time "snap" kick with reinforced shoes

Chun Kuk Do comes out of the crowd and hits them both with a steel chair.

Depends--

Does the savate fighter get to wear his flamboyant spandex catsuit?

YES, blue or red only!

Well then, I think we all know exactly who should win, then

Either side can realistically win (obviously), and wouldn't count either out for a second.

I think (imo) MT has an edge with the shin and body hardening/conditioning and use of the clinch. Of course it depends on the individual(s) competing, which would be the greatest factor, but let's just say they are clones (or parallel universe versions of the same person) that were trained differently for a few years then pit against the other.

The savate guy would have more direct, linear, quicker kicks (their specialty) with some good accuracy but would have to really make use of superior timing to win here, imo, as I don't think they would do so well @ close range, and would be forced to hit n run (stick and move) from the outside a lot for the strategy, all while not getting cornered/space-cramped the whole time.

I have a lot of respect for savate (minus the fashion side of things), and would not hesitate to study it, I think it would be extremely effective in real life confrontations, given the quick accurate kicks, + shoes and all.

Fun fact: There is a savate instructor at Erik Paulson's CSW in charge of the kickboxing. That should tell you something about the potential usefulness of savate in MMA.

didn't dekker lost against a savate champ?
however, i'd bet on the mt guy.

did someone say savate has superior conditioning.
history lesson, savate's early practitioners roamed asia testing there skills, they were highly successful until they hit thailand.

since then they havehad not much more success then back then.

Well if it was just kicking and punching then I'd say it would just depend on the fighter but if it was mixed rules with the clinch then MT would dominate if the fighters were even close in ability.

Savate fighter with the steel-toed shoes? Savate I think.

savate is weak crap.
muay thai would smash savate. you put up the best fighters from each sport, and see who wins.

Yes, but did they travel to the forrests of Japan to fight the ninjas?
Did they travel to the moutains to fight the kung fu monks?

I didn't think so.
