I used to dislike the guy but damn he is a great dude.

I was surfing Youtube and I've found a piece of interview with him where he talks about the value of competition.

His mentality is really deep. When you hear him talk like this you have no doubt why the guy has achieved world class in BJJ and now is a ranked FW in the UFC.

I actually really enjoy watching him fight. I think his style is fascinating.. an interesting listen as well.

As an unbiased observer, I can tell you that Ryan Hall is the greatest guy in MMA at the moment, and a future title holder.

I enjoyed listening to this but I couldnt watch due to his blinking problem. I had to play it in a background tab.

Myself and a few of my training partners used to spar with this fellow, usually to Hall's dismay. He certainly doesn't have the best standup and we would often get the better of him. Man he would lose his cool, start throwing bombs, swear, just a complete lack of sportsmanship. He came off like a total jerk and I remember the gym staff having some serious chats with him. But of course they wanted to retain him, so he got away with a lot.

That said this was about 6 years ago so perhaps he has matured, and he has sick BJJ.

True. Seems like a discerning articulate dude.
Would love to see him in the UFC booth in the future.
It’d be funny to listen yo him and Cruz have a disagreement... lol.

Tourette’s.
Nickels dimes quarters...……………….fuck! whore!

How? He probably knew he wasn’t going to knock anyone out. Unless you have a glass chin.

Most of the very top guys are poor sports in my experience. I wrestled with two world champs Steve Neal and T.J. Dillashaw. They are both extremely bad losers. Even in video games I’ve seen them throw shit and get legitimately angry. I’ve always thought that had something to do with why they achieved so much in sports.

Ok, I’ve heard stories like this from a fellow training partner of mine who had trained with him. It was one of those things that I kind of brushed off like nah no way
But he had said that Hall’s whole “laid back” “relaxed guy” thing is kind of an act he puts on, and he’s really false-humble. He could attest to him having an amazing ground game though

...

agreed - seems like a solid guy and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. very analytical, introspective, balanced, no ego or shit talk, and down to earth. Also seems like the type of guy you would want as a BJJ coach.

having said that, I realize that we only get a small glimpse, and we only see what he wants us to see, but that is all I have to go on, so...yeah. Others have talked of him not being so humble...I mean, that's ok depending upon how it manifests. I don't think you get to his level by being ultra humble and not thinking highly of yourself, but there's honest appraisal and confidence on one end of the spectrum and then there is being an arrogant d-bag or narcissist on the other...hopefully he falls much more closely to the former than the latter lol

One of those guys who thinks he's smart because he was top of the remedial program

his instructional videos are very good as well, despite his use of weird analogies all the time.
