Ukranian MMA fighters have traditionally gotten along well with Russian MMA fighters and many train together and know each others families due to close proximity and close cultural relations.
However lately, Western European and North American based gyms (we'll call them the "North American Training Organization", or "NATO" for short) have really started to expand its collective power and influence in the Eastern European MMA scene by trying to lure Ukrainian fighters to train in its "nato" gym while openly threatening the livelihood of the Russian-based gyms.
This is obviously causing tension, because Russian MMA gyms want Ukrainian MMA gyms to continue training together and there is a lack of understanding as to why they would leave and instead train with the "nato" gyms, which is seen as an act of betrayal because Russian MMA gyms would now be under constant threat from the ensuing hostilities if the "nato" gyms began operating nearby in Ukrainian gyms.
It seems as though these "nato" gyms need to mind their own business and handle its own MMA gyms on its side of the world instead of provoking instability in a region it has no reason to be in while luring the Russian-based MMA gyms into confrontation which would ultimately be a defensive or preemptive strike to protect itself from the increasing and perpetual threat from "nato" gyms.
About 20 years ago some of these "nato" gyms expanded their gym operations into the middle-eastern MMA scene. But other MMA gyms around the world didn't seem to care much at that time regarding the "nato" expansion into unwelcome territories.
Let's continue watching MMA in peace and harmony. Can't we all just get along!
