Running On Broken Glass

In Die Hard they shoot the glass and John runs thru it barefoot and then picks the glass out of his feet. If I was in this situation the movie ends there. I think after one step im instantly grabbing my foot which makes me step on more glass causing me to fall onto the broken glass where they all stand over me shooting me into living death.

I always questioned why Hans didn't get them to follow the bloody trail knowing he just gimped himself running through the glass
